Most Likely a Bug - Windows Defender Running Along Side Malwarebytes*

Every time i restart my computer, Windows Defender is actually running along side Malwarebytes. It gets disabled 5 minutes later.

Yes, i have the option "Always Register Malwarebytes - Enabled"

This shouldn't be happening (no other AV i have tested does this. Windows Defender never starts) since it replaces Windows Defender.

I'm using the latest stable version of Windows 11

To begin, please do the following so that we may take a closer look at your installation for troubleshooting: @Odysseas

NOTE: The tools and the information obtained are safe and not harmful to your privacy or your computer, please allow the programs to run if blocked by your system.

  • Download the Malwarebytes Support Tool
  • In your Downloads folder, open the mb-support-x.x.x.xxx.exe file
  • In the User Account Control pop-up window, click Yes to continue the installation
  • Run the MBST Support Tool
  • In the left navigation pane of the Malwarebytes Support Tool, click Advanced
  • In the Advanced Options, click Gather Logs. A status diagram displays the tool is Getting logs from your machine
  • A zip file named mbst-grab-results.zip will be saved to your desktop, please upload that file on your next reply

Thank you

Let's get Windows Defender working as it should. Then we'll take care of reinstalling Malwarebytes and having it take over as the default.

Please do the following. Run the CLEAN removal process, but DO NOT reinstall anything until I ask you to, please.

Can you please do the following?

  • Download the Malwarebytes Support Tool
  • In your Downloads folder, open the mb-support-x.x.x.xxx.exe file
  • In the User Account Control pop-up window, click Yes to continue the installation
  • Run the MBST Support Tool
  • In the left navigation pane of the Malwarebytes Support Tool, click Advanced
  • In the Advanced Options, click the CLEAN button and follow the onscreen instructions but do not reinstall Malwarebytes. Cancel any installer that tries to run.
  • NOTE: Please have patience as it can take a while to remove. The computer probably will not restart on it's own however, once the MBST tool has completed, please manually restart the computer.

After the restart please do the following

  • Run the MBST Support Tool
  • In the left navigation pane of the Malwarebytes Support Tool, click Advanced
  • In the Advanced Options, click Gather Logs. A status diagram displays the tool is Getting logs from your machine
  • A zip file named mbst-grab-results.zip will be saved to your desktop, please upload that file on your next reply

Thank you

Will probably do it later but i think it's highly unlikely there is something wrong my computer/os that is causing this issue because i just fresh installed Windows. Malwarebytes was installed after i done with all the windows updates/defender updates and after multiple restarts. Didn't touch anything in the Windows Security App and i didn't apply any modifications (like registry hacks etc)
