Ads appear when waking my phone

Recommended Posts

Hi guys. A problem I have noticed over the last couple of months. I have a Samsung Galaxy A71, and I have noticed that when the phone is put down, open, after a while it goes to sleep and the screen goes blank (this part is quite normal) but when I pick the phone up again and press any button to wake it up it always come up with a full screen web page encouraging me to download some cleaner app, or just simply ads for other service etc.

Malwarebytes, Avast, AVG and Avira all say that the phone is clean, but is it?

Is this a 'feature' with the latest Android 12 rollout from Samsung, or some malware/adware?

Thanks for any tips

Rock

PS I have tried looking for an unnamed app, with no thumbnail, in the list of installed apps, as was recommended a couple of years back when others had this problem, but no such app is on my phone.

Hi @RockVacirca,

If you could send an Apps Report, I can see if you have Adware on your mobile device.

To send an Apps Report with Malwarebytes for Android use the following instructions.

  1. Open the Malwarebytes for Android app.
  2. Tap the Menu icon.
  3. Tap Your apps.
  4. Tap three lines icon in upper right corner.
  5. Tap Send to support

Choose an email app to send Apps Report.

Your email app will open with the Apps Report included.

At this point, it would be very helpful to mention you are submitting via recommendation from the Malwarebytes forum.  This allows our support staff to know where to direct it.

By sending the Apps Report, you will create a ticket in our support system.

Private Message (PM) me the email used and/or the ticket number assigned.

Nathan
