Very confused

Recommended Posts

I received an e-mail with my monthly security update, so I wanted to see the one threat that it said I had. Well, when I logged in there was an option to switch to a new dashboard, so I did that. This brought me to a page that included my subscriptions and billing and nothing more. I noticed that it said home on top but that was not underlined, nor did it do anything to click there. I decided to just change back to older version and even then, I could not do anything with it. The only things available were subscriptions, billing and there was agear so I clicked on that and all I could do was view my profile. I need to know how I am supposed to navigate and do things on this site....where to go and where to click. I have looked all over. Am I missing something?

Hi,

Thanks for posting in the Malwarebytes for Windows Help forum.

If you are having technical issues with our Windows product, please do the following:

Malwarebytes Support Tool - Advanced Options

This feature is designed for the following reasons:

  • For use when you are on the forums and need to provide logs for assistance
  • For use when you don't need or want to create a ticket with Malwarebytes
  • For use when you want to perform local troubleshooting on your own

How to use the Advanced Options:

Spoiler
  1. Download Malwarebytes Support Tool
  2. Double-click mb-support-X.X.X.XXXX.exe to run the program
    • You may be prompted by User Account Control (UAC) to allow changes to be made to your computer. Click Yes to consent.
  3. Place a checkmark next to Accept License Agreement and click Next
  4. Navigate to the Advanced tab
  5. The Advanced menu page contains four categories:
    • Gather Logs: Collects troubleshooting information from the computer. As part of this process, Farbar Recovery Scan Tool (FRST) is run to perform a complete diagnosis. The information is saved to a file on the Desktop named mbst-grab-results.zip and can be added as an email attachment or uploaded to a forum post to assist with troubleshooting the issue at hand.
    • Clean: Performs an automated uninstallation of all Malwarebytes products installed to the computer and prompts to install the latest version of Malwarebytes for Windows afterwards. The Premium license key is backed up and reinstated. All user configurations and other data are removed. This process requires a reboot.
    •  Repair System: Includes various system-related repairs in case a Windows service is not functioning correctly that Malwarebytes for Windows is dependent on. It is not recommended to use any Repair System options unless instructed by a Malwarebytes Support agent.
    • Anonymously help the community by providing usage and threat statistics: Unchecking this option will prevent Malwarebytes Support Tool from sending anonymous telemetry data on usage of the program.
  6. To provide logs for review click the Gather Logs button
  7. Upon completion, click OK
  8. A file named mbst-grab-results.zip will be saved to your Desktop
  9. Please attach the file in your next reply.
  10. To uninstall all Malwarebytes Products, click the Clean button.
  11. Click the Yes button to proceed.
  12. Save all your work and click OK when you are ready to reboot.
  13. After the reboot, you will have the option to re-install the latest version of Malwarebytes for Windows.
  14. Select Yes to install Malwarebytes.
  15. Malwarebytes for Windows will open once the installation completes successfully.

I really don't know....where would I find this? Like I said, I have only basic info when I am logged on. Just see subscriptions, billing, orders and that gear that allows me to see my  profile and nothing more. Pretty sutre that when I get a notice to upgrade to newest version, I do that so should be the latest?

No, not at all. It os a white screen with my registration key and a black box alove that had the subscriptions, payments, orders, settings and support to click on and like I said, when I click settings I can view my profile and this is all.

I am talking about the installed Malwarebytes software. NOT the online account portal.

Please do the following so that we may take a closer look at your installation for troubleshooting:

NOTE: The tools and the information obtained is safe and not harmful to your privacy or your computer, please allow the programs to run if blocked by your system.

  • Download the Malwarebytes Support Tool
  • In your Downloads folder, open the mb-support-x.x.x.xxx.exe file
  • In the User Account Control pop-up window, click Yes to continue the installation
  • Run the MBST Support Tool
  • In the left navigation pane of the Malwarebytes Support Tool, click Advanced
  • In the Advanced Options, click Gather Logs. A status diagram displays the tool is Getting logs from your machine
  • A zip file named mbst-grab-results.zip will be saved to your desktop, please upload that file on your next reply

Thanks

No, not at all. It is a white screen with my registration key and a black box abvve that had the subscriptions, payments, orders, settings and support to click on and like I said, when I click settings, I can view my profile, and that is all.

Ok, just noticed your remark about the installed program. I was actually just going to the site and logging in. Was not aware that this would not take me to what I am able to see if I click on what is on my desktop. I just clicked on that, and it does bring me to those items that you show in the previous post. Does it matter that the screen does not look the same in that it is a white screen and not dark as depicted in your post? Does this mean I don't have the most recent update?

I have dark mode enabled. So from my original instructions, do you see any detection's in your logs?

Yes, when I logged into the downloaded program on my computer, I do see that page that shows Detection history, scanner and Real Time protection info

just like what you posted,

And you see your detection/protection events? Are you now satisfied you have the info you wanted.

Seems there should be more in there as of this date?

Probably all there is and that is a good thing. Most of my clients using Malwarebytes show no detection's/blocks at all.

see one was blocked 7/9/22

If that was a "web" block it just means Malwarebytes protected you from a possible bad site.
