Hi,

Thanks for posting in the Malwarebytes for Windows Help forum.

If you are having technical issues with our Windows product, please do the following:

Malwarebytes Support Tool - Advanced Options

This feature is designed for the following reasons:

  • For use when you are on the forums and need to provide logs for assistance
  • For use when you don't need or want to create a ticket with Malwarebytes
  • For use when you want to perform local troubleshooting on your own

How to use the Advanced Options:

Spoiler
  1. Download Malwarebytes Support Tool
  2. Double-click mb-support-X.X.X.XXXX.exe to run the program
    • You may be prompted by User Account Control (UAC) to allow changes to be made to your computer. Click Yes to consent.
  3. Place a checkmark next to Accept License Agreement and click Next
  4. Navigate to the Advanced tab
  5. The Advanced menu page contains four categories:
    • Gather Logs: Collects troubleshooting information from the computer. As part of this process, Farbar Recovery Scan Tool (FRST) is run to perform a complete diagnosis. The information is saved to a file on the Desktop named mbst-grab-results.zip and can be added as an email attachment or uploaded to a forum post to assist with troubleshooting the issue at hand.
    • Clean: Performs an automated uninstallation of all Malwarebytes products installed to the computer and prompts to install the latest version of Malwarebytes for Windows afterwards. The Premium license key is backed up and reinstated. All user configurations and other data are removed. This process requires a reboot.
    •  Repair System: Includes various system-related repairs in case a Windows service is not functioning correctly that Malwarebytes for Windows is dependent on. It is not recommended to use any Repair System options unless instructed by a Malwarebytes Support agent.
    • Anonymously help the community by providing usage and threat statistics: Unchecking this option will prevent Malwarebytes Support Tool from sending anonymous telemetry data on usage of the program.
  6. To provide logs for review click the Gather Logs button
  7. Upon completion, click OK
  8. A file named mbst-grab-results.zip will be saved to your Desktop
  9. Please attach the file in your next reply.
  10. To uninstall all Malwarebytes Products, click the Clean button.
  11. Click the Yes button to proceed.
  12. Save all your work and click OK when you are ready to reboot.
  13. After the reboot, you will have the option to re-install the latest version of Malwarebytes for Windows.
  14. Select Yes to install Malwarebytes.
  15. Malwarebytes for Windows will open once the installation completes successfully.

I'm just this minute seeing the same here when checking for updates from the UI in the Free version.

Nohing downloads, 0% on the status bar.

Obviously as I'm posting here my internet is connected, so it may be an issue with the update server connection?

Seems like al last topics are about update problems... I just did try on my own pc and from some client's. All premium user. Guess what, i have the same error as above.

Seems as Malwarebytes has gone faulty somewhere... We not use beta versions, but my client's have the same problem, suddenly no one can get updates...

@AdvancedSetup: did that on the laptop, result : malwarebytes is up to date, after that : same error : something went wrong : one or more items in the current update did not complete successfully.

Yesterday I was able to update mbam on the computer with windows 11, today : same error.

The thing is on the 4 computers I have different versions of malwarebytes : strange.

Thank you for your reply.

Just tried again and today it updated with no issue.

Free version, using Check for Updates from the General tab.

Now at v4.5.9.198, Update package 1.0.57087, Component package 1.0.1676

(Which doesn't seem to be the latest, I thought the latest was 4.5.10.200 component package 1.0.1709 ?)

EDIT: Quit Malwarbytes and relaunched, ran Check for updates again and it did another one.

This time it did a reinstall after downloading the update and I am now at 4.5.10.200.

@AdvancedSetup same issue, updating with mbsetup.exe same error, after a while, but version mbam changed from 4.5.11.202 to 4.5.10.200.

Beta updates is enabled.

I tried something else : changed DNS from automatic to google public DNS 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.44 (hopefully safe)and so far it works, never be too optimistic.....

The version on the 3 computers is 4.5.11.202 except for the one with windows 11 : 4.5.10.200.

Hope this is is the solution and that the errors do not occur any more.

Thank you.

Hi Ried

Inexplicably within the last hour normal service has once again resumed ?

Nothing has altered at my end same network same PCs no Windows updates so now that we can connect and make contact with the update server I can only assume some issue at your end ?

I will keep checking ( as it seems to fail the next day ) the update function to see if it still connects and post back if this random issue has finally been resolved ?

Clearly there has been some external issue as there have been many other people posting in respect to exactly the same problem over the last week if you take a look in the Malwarebytes forums.

Hi, yes, we are aware that there is a timeout occurring for some folks - it's not our product, it's an issue with one of the servers that they've been working very hard to identify. The host of our servers were able to identify one, but we're not sure if that is the same one that is affecting you folks in the UK.

Please keep an eye on it and let me know if the update check fails again.  If it does, please see the PM I sent you about an hour ago.

25 minutes ago, SPDIF said:

Well it seems that the problem is not only in the UK, but also in Belgium... Sometimes it work, sometimes not. This morning no updates possible, now in the evening it suddenly works again.

You are right, same here. Changing the DNS is maybe not the right solution.
