Running MBAM Premium and decided to use BD for extra security since I don't fully trust Kaspersky for extra protection. When I tried to download BD, it told me to remove MBAM or else it would install a lite version of BD. I didn't want to do this since there are certain conditions that make me not want to do that and so I exited the installer. Even if I did, who's to say MBAM won't pull the same trick? I am willing to remove MBAM and install it after BD if I can be certain that it won't make me uninstall BD or install a lesser version. Thank you.

Hi,

Thanks for posting in the Malwarebytes for Windows Help forum.

If you are having technical issues with our Windows product, please do the following:

Malwarebytes Support Tool - Advanced Options

This feature is designed for the following reasons:

  • For use when you are on the forums and need to provide logs for assistance
  • For use when you don't need or want to create a ticket with Malwarebytes
  • For use when you want to perform local troubleshooting on your own

How to use the Advanced Options:

Spoiler
  1. Download Malwarebytes Support Tool
  2. Double-click mb-support-X.X.X.XXXX.exe to run the program
    • You may be prompted by User Account Control (UAC) to allow changes to be made to your computer. Click Yes to consent.
  3. Place a checkmark next to Accept License Agreement and click Next
  4. Navigate to the Advanced tab
  5. The Advanced menu page contains four categories:
    • Gather Logs: Collects troubleshooting information from the computer. As part of this process, Farbar Recovery Scan Tool (FRST) is run to perform a complete diagnosis. The information is saved to a file on the Desktop named mbst-grab-results.zip and can be added as an email attachment or uploaded to a forum post to assist with troubleshooting the issue at hand.
    • Clean: Performs an automated uninstallation of all Malwarebytes products installed to the computer and prompts to install the latest version of Malwarebytes for Windows afterwards. The Premium license key is backed up and reinstated. All user configurations and other data are removed. This process requires a reboot.
    •  Repair System: Includes various system-related repairs in case a Windows service is not functioning correctly that Malwarebytes for Windows is dependent on. It is not recommended to use any Repair System options unless instructed by a Malwarebytes Support agent.
    • Anonymously help the community by providing usage and threat statistics: Unchecking this option will prevent Malwarebytes Support Tool from sending anonymous telemetry data on usage of the program.
  6. To provide logs for review click the Gather Logs button
  7. Upon completion, click OK
  8. A file named mbst-grab-results.zip will be saved to your Desktop
  9. Please attach the file in your next reply.
  10. To uninstall all Malwarebytes Products, click the Clean button.
  11. Click the Yes button to proceed.
  12. Save all your work and click OK when you are ready to reboot.
  13. After the reboot, you will have the option to re-install the latest version of Malwarebytes for Windows.
  14. Select Yes to install Malwarebytes.
  15. Malwarebytes for Windows will open once the installation completes successfully.

Malwarebytes and Bit Defender have known compatibility issues mainly with web protection of MB.

It is suggested to use Windows Defender alongside of Malwarebytes.

I cannot use Windows Defender as I am using Windows 7. Therefore I am trying to find a replacement for it.

Upgrading to Windows 10 is the best bet. Even that will be out of support in 2025.

Malwarebytes is designed to run alone as an AV replacement.

I remember when "Malwarebytes was designed to run along your antivirus"....

an "AV replacement" is like the spare tire on your car: will do the job but you cannot run more than 80km/h and you cannot run permanently .As long as Malwarebytes does not scan a lot of file types ( JS, HTML, VBS, .CLASS, SWF, BAT, CMD, PDF, PHP, etc) should never be used instead of a properly designed antivirus.

I have 3 computers plus two customer computers running Bitdefender Total Security alongside Malwarebytes Pro on Windows 10 & 11 PCs for 3 months with no problems. I did uninstall Malwarebytes and then install Bitdefender. When reinstalling Malwarebytes, be careful to have Bitdefender Shield turned off, and then have only one AV program active at a time until the Exceptions and Exclusions are set for both programs.  I posted my procedure for this around 4/1, but I could not find it in a quick search. If you need help setting Exceptions and Exclusions, I could repost my process.

Windows 7 might add complications, so I am not sure if you will have a problem running the two programs together. I would recommend a full backup before trying, and unless you have a program that will not run on Windows 10, a free upgrade to Windows 10, as mentioned by Porthos above, seems like a good move.

Not being any expert regarding the subject, but i have personaly asked the customer suport of Bitdefender,AVG,Eset and some more antivirus manufacturers regarding the subject, but sadly to say, they all reply that Malwarebytes is not compatible running it along all antivirus. Maybe with some expert rules changes,it could work.

I am using Zone Alarm Antivirus alongside with Malwarebytes for many years, and it has never been any issue or conflict between these. I am using Windows 10. Otherwise Windows Defender appears to work.

Correct is "with no visible problems".

You do not know how a detection is handled, who is going to quarantine first (maybe none?)

Point is, if Bit Defender scores 99.9% in all tests in the last 5 years , what is the advantage of running one additional anti-malware on top of it?????

It's called CHOICE

Over a billion computers are out there and to think or believe that everyone is going to set up or use their computer as you do isn't very realistic.

Is it true, it is called "CHOICE"

But the choice has to be rational and educated.....
