Adware Changes default browser to Bing and comes back after being deleted

I seem to have gotten adware that resets chrome shortly after opening it and changes the default search engine to Bing. It also blocks me from entering my extensions until I reset chromes setting where i can temporarily delete it but it comes back always. Same with the files I tracked it to in C:\Users\username\AppData\Local\chrome_history but they also return shortly after deleting them. I've deleted my cloud history, but they still return after the files are deleted. Also when chrome resets Malwarebytes blocks a website called freychang fun. I attached a zip file of said adware and all the scans but malwarebytes doesnt seem to detect it nor does adwcleaner.

ok so i followed all the steps and chrome seems to have no suspisous extensions and malwarebytes isnt detecting anything but the files are still in my appdata. Should i 1: be worried about that? and 2: should I delete them or would they reinstall themselves again and go back to annoying me in chrome?

I'm sorry I didn't share this as I just found this out but yesterday 2:17 a family member was playing Roblox and Malwarebytes detected a trojan virus (trojan.tasker.powershell) and quarantined them. I'm guessing this could be the cause of the adware or just means this laptop is filled with viruses. I've heard of Roblox trojans from a friend and wouldn't be surprised if this family member of mine got it on accident while on Roblox. Ill download the scan detections and add them to this. (Sorry again had no clue this existed until 10 minutes ago) And my Norton expired a long time ago so I don't know if it would affect this or future fixes.

Ok I ran the fix, and the adware files are gone, and my theory is those trojan files when they got quarantined that might have been related to the adware or that was just another problem solved. So, if this all has worked out then I'm glad you've been patient with me as I have very little knowledge on pcs and after this, I'm going to get Malwarebytes premium so possibly thank you (Ill also keep a tighter leash on the shared laptop to hopefully prevent this from happening again).

But just in case I've scanned my computer and will attach the files just to be sure and if this isn't resolved then discard the last sentence until it is (also added the fixlogs).

Please set File Explorer to SHOW ALL folders, all files, including hidden ones.  Use OPTION ONE or TWO of this article

I suggest a new scan for viruses & other malware. This may take several hours, depending on the number of files on the system and the speed of the computer.

Look on the Scan Options & select the FULL scan.

Then start the scan. Have lots of patience. It may take several hours.

• Once you see it has started, take a long long break;  walk away.  Do not pay credence if you see some intermediate early flash messages on the screen display.  The only things that count are the End result at the end of the run.
• The scan will take several hours.  Leave it alone. It will remove any other remaining threats as it goes along.  Take a very long break, do your normal personal errands .....just do not use the computer during this scan.

This is likely to run for many hours as previously mentioned  ( depending on the number of files on your machine & the speed of the hardware.)

The log is named MSERT.log  and the log will be at C:\Windows\debug\msert.log

Please attach that log with your next reply.

That DOES NOT mean the computer is infected. Once the scan has been completed it uploads the log to their Cloud service which then uses Artificial Intelligence to determine if in fact any of the traces are an infection or not.

Then it writes into the log on your computer what it found.

Glad I did scan it as it found one file that afteer i looked up for about 30 seconds seems to have been stopping windows defender from properly working so that makes sense as to why it scanned nothing.

also forgot to add to like all my other posts but ill add it here incase the 1 file it found drags this on longer my norton subscription expired months ago so I dont think it can/should interfere with anything other then give me pop ups saying that norton expired

If you have a paid version of Malwarebytes then I'd suggest simply uninstalling Norton. Then use Malwarebytes and if you want additional protection enable Windows Defender to run alongside Malwarebytes. Both programs work well together.

Please download KpRm by kernel-panik and save it to your desktop.

• right-click kprm_(version).exe and select Run as Administrator.
• Read and accept the disclaimer.
• When the tool opens, ensure all boxes under Actions are checked.
• Under Delete Quarantines select Delete Now, then click Run.
• Once complete, click OK.
• A log will open in Notepad titled kprm-(date).txt.
• Please attach that file to your next reply. (not compulsory)
