In the meantime, a perfectly safe download workaround is at the developer's website: https://toolslib.net/downloads/finish/1-adwcleaner/2658/

Note that this is no longer officially supported.

The official and recommended link is https://downloads.malwarebytes.com/file/adwcleaner, or you can use the links directly from the updater's manifest if you want to get alpha and beta versions: https://adwcleaner.malwarebytes.com/manifest/v1.json

Has anything changed for downloading? Any sort of anti-bot filters or checks?

I ask because I have tried several of the official links for use in my Anti-Malware Toolkit and AdwCleaner never downloads, it just stalls and waits. So far it's only AdwCleaner that has the issue. If necessary, privately message me in case this is a change that I will need to implement.

Hello @Tarun,

Sorry for the delay, I just got back from vacations.

Does it work fine if you use the links below in a web browser, and you're only facing the problem within your tool? Can you try in `cmd.exe` with `curl -vvvv https://downloads.malwarebytes.com/file/adwcleaner` and share the output?

Sure, when I have some free time later I can look into that.

What's throwing me off is the following:

	{
	  "download": "https://download.mozilla.org/?product=firefox-latest-ssl&os=win64",
    },
    {
      "download": "https://download.mozilla.org/?product=firefox-stub&os=win64",
    },
    {
      "download": "https://download.mozilla.org/?product=thunderbird-latest-ssl&os=win64",
	}

This is how I download Firefox and Thunderbird in AMT. They work with no issues, which confuses me as to why AdwCleaner is suddenly having issues. We're debugging things to see what's going on and trying to find the root cause. I assumed it was a related to changes on the AdwCleaner server end since Firefox has a similar format and still works properly. I'll keep you posted.

@jboursier

We looked into the issue and believe it may be related to the content disposition header.

When adding the below code into the section where the content disposition is handled on our end, AdwCleaner downloaded.

contentDisposition = "attachment; " + contentDisposition;

In the second screenshot I posted you can see this error is indeed on the Malwarebytes/Server side. It is missing the attachment; prefix.

Helped AMT as this area can be improved to handle this in the future rather than stalling.

Hope this helps!

Thanks for the write-up, it's a good finding indeed, it seems I may have overlooked this.

I've tested with a new configuration and I will deploy it shortly, you may have to update the code on your end..
