Possible Pop-up Malware

Recommended Posts

Greetings!

I was browsing Firefox a few hours ago, when suddenly my laptop started typing random Chinese(?) characters and Unicode symbols with four letters in a box. It also started randomly opening applications, and I wasn't able to close anything. Hence, I immediately restarted my laptop, downloaded Malwarebytes, and ran it on full scan with rootkits enabled alongside Windows Defender. Both full scans found zero threats. I also checked potential suspicious apps and deleted them, continuously monitored Task Manager for an hour, and found nothing as well. As a last resort, I tried sfc /scannow to no avail. I immediately changed the master password of my password manager as a first-aid measure.

Is there really a virus on my device? What is my next course of action in this scenario? Do I have to change the dozens of passwords in my password manager?

Thanks in advance.

Regards,

Hyzide

NOTE: You mentioned you were using Firefox. I would urge that you delete the Cache on Firefox, along with the browsing history
https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/how-clear-firefox-cache
I would then Exit Firefox. also close all apps. Do one Windows Restart.
You mentioned both MS Defender antiirus and Malwarebytes for Windows found no threats. So I would not be going around changing all passwords.
