I received this 1st notice yesterday and then again today.  I complied by sending in my DL photo. (My sister's account was stolen and FB - the REAL FB--  insisted she do that before getting her acct back). I was very active posting my public music page to different sites after a free concert we did. Then I received the notice (below). I got it again today with a typo in the title.

I suddenly felt sick to my stomach and went in and changed my PW. I knew I had made a grave error in sending in my DL.   Then, FB sent me a question of did I just login from VA. where I am not located. I said no and finished setting up a new password. The links are different  in each message.

My question is, what do I do about the stupid act of sending in my DL to a link on FB and how do I report it to FB?

I already checked my account to see where I am logged in and it's correct right now.

Thanks

Hi @rswc

it's phishing. Those accounts are compromised ones. Never click on their links.

I had reported both earlier to phishtank, hopefully these malicious sites will be taken down soon

see, please, my submissions

I'd recommend to replace the e-mail address you use for FB with another one, to use a password manager (ie: BitWarden, open source and free) and to enable 2 Factor authentication

Cheers

LeoFelix, thx. I already have a password program I use and immediately changed my 15 character password. I also already had 2 factor authentication enabled. That’s what concerns me. I am not sure how one knows if these are real notifications or not (I mean the one without the typo!)

You're welcome.

Those notifications are real because they tagged you, their requests aren't. They pretend to be Facebook.

Perhaps some of your friends had their account hijacked or your account is public and anyone can tag you. Please set your account private (only your friend can see your posts, I mean) then go to your account privacy settings and set it to alert you when someone tag you. You'll be able to remove their tags and to report possible spam.

I hope it helps

Cheers (and sorry for my poor english)

I have the privacy settings already set to private EXCEPT I also have a public musician profile as well.  That is how they claimed to come after me- through the public (musician) account. Btw, tu inglés es perfecto! Perdona, adivino esto basado solo en tu nombre. Disculpa si no es así!

I am not sure how to know if a friend got hacked. Maybe there is no way to know. Thanks again!
