Task Manager will not show, even if I go through Ctrl Alt Del. Looking at past threads, I'm pretty sure I had an infected file in the registry. DMode Posted February 3, 2022 Author ID:1500507 Share Posted February 3, 2022 I'm afraid I've exhausted all my options already. I did try System Restore, which didn't work. The first attempt said there was something wrong with the C Drive, but the second attempt went through, but it was still a black screen afterwards. Then i tried going into Safe Mode, but that's also just a black screen. Then my last resort was a Reset of my PC, which still did not work. It's just a black screen, and none of the Windows key functions work either. When I checked the forums, that's when I heard about Farbar, so I decided to give that a try. You can get into the BIOS so that works too. It's just Windows itself that is creating, having the black screen in NORMAL Mode? Does it have a black screen in Safe Mode? So only the Recovery Mode is currently working? The taskbar does not show for any mode either. I ran farbar, but how come I don't see a checkbox for Additions.txt? It only gave me "List BCD" and "90 Days Files" under optional scan. Anyway, because I did a reset, there's unfortunately no restore points now... I just checked and it said there's none. And any idea why Additions.txt isn't an option in the farbar I downloaded? It doesn't have access to the Event Logs to read them as it does in Normal Mode. In my haste, I actually got a new computer because I was planning to get a new one anyway. If I can manage to fix this old one, I will just hand it over to family. I have already backed up my data.
