Hello I couldn’t find a forums on here for internet and stuff but I’ve noticed recently that when I look up whats my ip on google it’s changes from my ipv6 to my ipv4 from time to time I have both but I would always get ipv4 not ipv6 so now I’m curious what could’ve caused this.

Your ISP and the websites you visit can cause either IPV4 or IPV6 to not be used. @Sunny345

You can set IPV4 to be the preferred protocol so that in most cases it will use that unless someone hard codes a specific call to use IPV6 which would be rare.

Please try the following. Open an Elevated Admin command prompt and copy/paste the following and press the Enter key. You should get a success message.

reg add "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\Tcpip6\Parameters" /v "DisabledComponents" /t REG_DWORD /d 32 /f

Then restart the computer and try testing IPV4 / IPV6 again.

This will set the IP preference to use IPV4 instead of IPV6 as recommended by Microsoft without actually disabling IPV6

You can also visit the following site to check on your IPV6

https://test-ipv6.com/
