If you are using the Premium (paid) Version then yes it should.

But the main protection is you.  Do not open attachments in email or click links in email unless you are absoultly sure and were expecting it.

The definition databases are encrypted due to past database theft.

I would also suggest if you have not done already is change (turn off) the following setting in Malwarebytes to re-enable Windows Defender to run alongside with Malwarebytes. This will increase your overall protection.

Also be sure you Malwarebytes is up to date. Current version is 4.5.2
