Possible infection?

Recommended Posts

Hello I’ve been having problems with my iPhone 7 for a while now like my phone getting hot and it’s slow and it dies super fast and Something new popped up this morning I was having problems with my WiFi so I ran a simple WiFi speed test on safari on my phone and as I was running it the website just gave me an error and I then tried to update my iPhone but it wasn’t working it just bugged my phone even more and it didn’t end up updating so now I’m confused and worried that I might have malware.

Hi @Luke_,

The good thing about iPhone's is unless they are jailbroken, apps can't be installed other than from the Apple Store.  Thus, it's pretty tough to get malware on Apple mobile devices.  Let alone do an "update" on the system.  Although it said it was updating, it most likely wasn't doing anything.  If the website hadn't errored, it probably would have landed on a webpage selling you something, trying to get you to enter personal information, and/or install an app from Apple Store to get a paid a small amount for a redirecting to the app.  At this point, clearing your history and cache within Safari would be a good idea to clear out any leftovers from visiting the site such as browser related ad popups.  If by chance you still have the URL to the speed test website, you could Private Message (PM) me the URL for further analysis.
