Hey, weird thing happened to me after ending a match in LoL. I tried rebooting the pc (had to hard reset) as the windows logo was outside the screen and couldn't access it. Reset didn't work so I tried to plug off the pc. It worked and everything booted as it should. The problem was that there was no internet. The internet came back after restarting the router. I don't remember this happening anytime before. However, one time (again after ending the match in LoL) it broke resolution of my screen and again, the same step (plugging off the pc) helped. Do You have any idea what might be causing the problem? I can run FRST if it's needed.

I already had FRST so I opened it and used "scan" after the registry copy was created and FRST updated. When I launched HWinfo there was a system summary displayed. I closed it and then followed the instructions. Autoruns begun scanning automatically after I chose the options You mentioned. I saved the file after it said Ready (it happened after it finished scanning I think). Here are the results:

HWInfo.7z autoruns.7z FRST.7z

So, it looks like there may be an update for your BIOS. I'm not sure what version your motherboard is though.

Please double-check and verify this is YOUR motherboard and which version of REV you have. Then check if there is a BIOS firmware update

Please try running the following fix

Please download the attached fixlist.txt file and save it to the Desktop or location where you ran FRST from.
NOTE. It's important that both files, FRST or FRST64, and fixlist.txt are in the same location or the fix will not work.

Please make sure you disable any real-time antivirus or security software before running this script. Once completed, make sure you re-enable it.

NOTICE: This script was written specifically for this user, for use on this particular machine. Running this on another machine may cause damage to your operating system that cannot be undone.

Run FRST or FRST64 and press the Fix button just once and wait.
If the tool needs a restart please make sure you let the system restart normally and let the tool complete its run after restart.
The tool will make a log on the Desktop (Fixlog.txt) or wherever you ran FRST from. Please attach or post it to your next reply.

Note: If the tool warned you about an outdated version please download and run the updated version.

NOTE-1:  This fix will run a scan to check that all Microsoft operating system files are valid and not corrupt and attempt to correct any invalid files. It will also run a disk check on the restart to ensure disk integrity. Depending on the speed of your computer this fix may take 30 minutes or more.

NOTE-2: As part of this fix all temporary files will be removed. If you have any open web pages that have not been bookmarked please make sure you bookmark them now as all open applications will be automatically closed. Also, make sure you know the passwords for all websites as cookies will also be removed. The use of an external password manager is highly recommended instead of using your browser to store passwords.

NOTE-3: As part of this fix it will also reset the network to default settings including the firewall. If you have custom firewall rules you need to save please export or save them first before running this fix.

The following directories are emptied:

  • Windows Temp
  • Users Temp folders
  • Edge, IE, FF, Chrome, and Opera caches, HTML5 storages, Cookies and History
  • Recently opened files cache
  • Flash Player cache
  • Java cache
  • Steam HTML cache
  • Explorer thumbnail and icon cache
  • BITS transfer queue (qmgr*.dat files)
  • Recycle Bin

Important: items are permanently deleted. They are not moved to quarantine. If you have any questions or concerns please ask before running this fix.

The system will be rebooted after the fix has run.

Thanks

It is the same motherboard I have inside the pc.How do I check the rev version?

Will the fix change DNS to those You mentioned or will they stay the same? I've never changed them and I'm not sure how they were set. Was that done by the interned provider? What will changing them do?

About the firewall: only changes I've made are those when some program or a game asks for adding an exception. So, do I have to export anything?

Will sites that I've added to favorites in my browser be deleted as well? Is this necessary? And do I have to do anything about that Discord? It was downloaded from Discord's website.

Normally for your motherboard you would possibly have the purchase order or the included user manual that may say.

https://www.gigabyte.com/Support/FAQ/864

They say it's printed on the Motherboard which means you'd need to open the case to see in most cases.

The DNS change is only a suggestion. Windows and home routers typically default to 192.168.1.1 or a very similar number to that it then ties to your local router and uses the settings inside your router which in many cases is set to your ISP provider.

There is both a Guide link and Video link on how to make the change. If you don't want to choose one yourself then you could use the Google setting from the link above.

The fix I provided will reset the Firewall for you automatically. If or when you run a new program in the future it will ask you. Just because your firewall asks you does not mean you have to say OK. Read what it's saying or asking and based upon what you just tried to run that may have caused it to ask.

No the clean up will not delete any Saved passwords or any Favorites or Bookmarks. It will remove cache and cookies. Often times many sites allow you to stay logged in via the Cookie. If you don't know the password and the cookie is removed then you'd need the password to log in again. Typically most websites don't use a password, only sites like Forums or Facebook, etc. that have a more personal level of interaction with you.

When we're done we'll do some scans for Discord. Perhaps it was just a temporary issue for AutoRuns

It's probably best we do not mess with the BIOS as it can be tricky sometimes to get them updated properly.

From Gigabyte

Warning:
Because BIOS flashing is potentially risky, if you do not encounter problems using the current version of BIOS, it is recommended that you not flash the BIOS. To flash the BIOS, do it with caution. Inadequate BIOS flashing may result in system malfunction.

So, is it better to leave BIOS as it is?

So, DNS change is a suggestion. Will it be fine if I don't change them or at least don't change them immediately?

I wanted to go sleep, so I'll ask this: does this thing have a priority or can I do it while I have a bit of free time (later today or early tomorrow)? There shouldn't be problems, right?

That log looks pretty good @Manaphy0220

Please restart the computer one more time. Then click on Start / Search and type in "Check for updates" and let me know if Microsoft finds or installs any updates or not.

Then when that is all done run the Farbar program again and click on the Scan button and attach back both new logs

  • FRST.txt
  • Addition.txt

Thanks

I restarted the computer (Windows Logo -> Restart). When I checked updates, there was some Windows Defender definition analysis or something (it shows often when I check the updates). I also uninstalled the Riot Vanguard as I don't need it at the moment.

Edit: FRST logs. I know that You asked for two of them but three were made so I'll atach it just in case.

I wanted to do a Defender scan and a while after it started, the Windows bar disappeared for a second or two (it was like the resolution changed for a moment) and then went back to normal. Is this something important?

Overall the logs look okay considering the age of your computer. @Manaphy0220

Let me have you run the following, please.

SecurityCheck by glax24

I would like you to run a tool named SecurityCheck to inquire about the current security update status of some applications.

  • Download SecurityCheck by glax24: https://tools.safezone.cc/glax24/SecurityCheck/SecurityCheck.exe
  • If Microsoft SmartScreen blocks the download, click through to save the file
  • This tool is safe.   Smartscreen is overly sensitive.
  • If SmartScreen blocks the file from running click on More info and Run anyway
  • Right-click  with your mouse on the Securitycheck.exe  and select "Run as administrator"  and reply YES to allow to run & go forward
  • Wait for the scan to finish. It will open a text file named SecurityCheck.txt Close the file.  Attach it with your next reply.
  • You can find this file in a folder called SecurityCheck, C:\SecurityCheck\SecurityCheck.txt

Here's the results. What should I do with the programs I downloaded?

I'd like to ask about one thing: after I tried downloading Minecraft (it ran via Microsoft Store) I get notifications from Windows (Windows Store) about launching 3 files/programs(?) visual redist, something redistributables, and one more that I don't remember. Is this something concerning?

Please update or address the following.

------------------------------ [ ArchAndFM ] ------------------------------
7-Zip 19.00 (x64) v.19.00 Warning! Download Update
Uninstall old version and install new one.

I'm not sure about the other item from the Microsoft Store. Please grab a screenshot of it and show me when you see it.

Once we're fully completed we'll clean up the tools.

Thank you

I will try to get a screenshot when the notifications appear but it may be difficult as they do not always show and it's always a short while after PC is booted. How should I update that program? Uninstall it in the Add and Remove programs and then where should I download it from? Should I use the link that is in Your post?
