We run Avast! home free and Malwarebytes side by side.

One of our machines running registered Malwarebytes had an obviously bogus popup that wanted to run a virus scan and clicking the close (x) box only started the process.

My wife called me over to investigate. I saw that Malwarebytes was not active in the system tray. We restarted the machine and manually ran Malwarebytes. Its definitions were many months out of date so I had it update from the Update tab and after a system restart, it was current and resident once again with the latest definitions.

I ran a quick scan and then a full scan, but both showed no malware active.

When we next ran Firefox, a small popup appeared over Malwarebytes in the systray showing that it had blocked a malicious IP. The IP is 66.235.126.58.

I uninstalled Firefox, leaving existing profiles, and then reinstalled it. I also started up IE7 and did the Tools->Advanced->Reset to flush it clean.

Running Firefox again resulted in the IP block notice.

Following the forum instructions, we ran a Hijackthis scan and are posting the log here.

I appreciate any help and suggestions you may have!

Thanks,

Dav

Hello and welcome to Malwarebytes.

I Apologize for the late response.

If you still require assistance, we would like to see the latest state of your system. So, please post a New Hijackthis log. In your reply, I would also like to know any symptoms you may still have and how your computer is running at the moment.
