Turned on computer to get a notification that MBAM needed to restart to install an update.  Had to do it since MBAM was not active.  Is this new?  I always controlled when to update.

Malwarebytes will update and alert you to restart Malwarebytes when needed. Or alert when a new program version is ready to install.

Are you using the Free or Paid version?

Hello @bru

We understand there are those that want to control the update but we also have  many that want this all automated. We have updated so that in some cases the program will auto update if it's set to do it. If you don't want it to automatically update the program you can turn that off in the settings.

Thank you

Indeed.  I could have sworn that setting was unticked.  Checking my other machines I also see it unticked there.  I am certain that was changed recently, and not by me.

I'm not aware of us changing it. It would take a program update to change it though from our end.

With it disabled it should not be updating the actual program version. I'm not sure if I can tell from the logs or not but if you post back the logs we can take a look and see.

To begin, please do the following so that we may take a closer look at your installation for troubleshooting:

NOTE: The tools and the information obtained are safe and not harmful to your privacy or your computer, please allow the programs to run if blocked by your system.

  • Download the Malwarebytes Support Tool
  • In your Downloads folder, open the mb-support-x.x.x.xxx.exe file
  • In the User Account Control pop-up window, click Yes to continue the installation
  • Run the MBST Support Tool
  • In the left navigation pane of the Malwarebytes Support Tool, click Advanced
  • In the Advanced Options, click Gather Logs. A status diagram displays the tool is Getting logs from your machine
  • A zip file named mbst-grab-results.zip will be saved to your desktop, please upload that file on your next reply

Thank you

I think you have a problem you are not aware of.  Every one of my computers running MBAM reverted to having the box ticked to update automatically.  I had 100% changed every one myself to not allow it but they all reverted.

FYI this is not RESOLVED.  Not sure why you ignore a bug in your program that you have been told about for years.

Stop always asking for logs, its insulting to someone with a brain. There is nothing wrong other than your program resets its settings and bugs me to update.  Just did it again even though I specifically disabled all the supposed prompts.
