No longer receiving 2FA emails from MWB

Recommended Posts

Hello Support,

I'm unable to receive the 2 factor authentication emails, but I had no problem signing up for this forum and verifying my account via Email

Also I have a support ticket on this already open, and I also receive those emails without any problem

However, no matter what I try, I can't receive my 2FA email to login to my account

Long story short, my main work email was not accessible for a period of time.

During this time I was unable to login to MWB since I couldn't check my email to get the 2FA code

I contacted support, they verified my ID and changed my email to an alternative gmail address. I was able to login with my gmail address and receive the 2FA emails without any problem

Shortly after that, the account somehow reverted back to using my work email address (which was still down and not accessible)

I figured I'd wait until my work email was back up and try to login. Once my email access was restored, I tried to login but my work email wasn't getting the 2FA emails (and Ive always got them in the past without any issue) Checked Junk/Spam, added to safe senders, mail admin in my company also added mwb to the safe senders list. Still nothing... no 2FA emails

So I contact support again and we change the email address for the account back to my gmail address, but now no 2FA emails are making it to the gmail account either... Nothing has changed on the gmail account, I still have 2FA emails from MWB in my inbox from Oct 15th.

Anyways I have zero access to my account. I need to install MWB on a few new computers but can't even get logged in.

I have no idea who's end the problem exists on... I've never had any problems receiving this email in the past up until now

Can this be fixed? or can we disable 2FA on my account? or add an SMS number for 2FA?

***This is an automated reply***

Hi,

Thanks for posting in the Malwarebytes for Windows Help forum.

If you are having technical issues with our Windows product, please do the following:

Malwarebytes Support Tool - Advanced Options

This feature is designed for the following reasons:

  • For use when you are on the forums and need to provide logs for assistance
  • For use when you don't need or want to create a ticket with Malwarebytes
  • For use when you want to perform local troubleshooting on your own

How to use the Advanced Options:

Spoiler
  1. Download Malwarebytes Support Tool
  2. Double-click mb-support-X.X.X.XXXX.exe to run the program
    • You may be prompted by User Account Control (UAC) to allow changes to be made to your computer. Click Yes to consent.
  3. Place a checkmark next to Accept License Agreement and click Next
  4. Navigate to the Advanced tab
  5. The Advanced menu page contains four categories:
    • Gather Logs: Collects troubleshooting information from the computer. As part of this process, Farbar Recovery Scan Tool (FRST) is run to perform a complete diagnosis. The information is saved to a file on the Desktop named mbst-grab-results.zip and can be added as an email attachment or uploaded to a forum post to assist with troubleshooting the issue at hand.
    • Clean: Performs an automated uninstallation of all Malwarebytes products installed to the computer and prompts to install the latest version of Malwarebytes for Windows afterwards. The Premium license key is backed up and reinstated. All user configurations and other data are removed. This process requires a reboot.
    •  Repair System: Includes various system-related repairs in case a Windows service is not functioning correctly that Malwarebytes for Windows is dependent on. It is not recommended to use any Repair System options unless instructed by a Malwarebytes Support agent.
    • Anonymously help the community by providing usage and threat statistics: Unchecking this option will prevent Malwarebytes Support Tool from sending anonymous telemetry data on usage of the program.
  6. To provide logs for review click the Gather Logs button
  7. Upon completion, click OK
  8. A file named mbst-grab-results.zip will be saved to your Desktop
  9. Please attach the file in your next reply.
  10. To uninstall all Malwarebytes Products, click the Clean button.
  11. Click the Yes button to proceed.
  12. Save all your work and click OK when you are ready to reboot.
  13. After the reboot, you will have the option to re-install the latest version of Malwarebytes for Windows.
  14. Select Yes to install Malwarebytes.
  15. Malwarebytes for Windows will open once the installation completes successfully.

You will have to wait on support to assist.

Please submit only one ticket.

Be advised it can currently take 3-7 weekdays for a response after the automated reply with your ticket number.

Yes, I do have a ticket open.

However the support agent is now out on vacation if you review her comments in the ticket.

I was hoping she would escalate this to her superiors or another agent as I really need to access this account sooner than later

Still can't login... Support offered to send over open license keys, said yes please and they never responded.

Can my account be switched over to SMS for the 2 Factor Authentication codes? Does MWB support SMS for 2FA?
