[ RESOLVED ] Brother scanner access

Go to solution Solved by Chris_Q,

I have a replacement Brother multifunction printer/copier/scanner and everything now works apart from sending scans to file on my PC. Brother have suggested that it is Malware that is blocking the file transfer and suggest that I configure my firewall to allow ports to be open.

Is this Malware or something I need to do in Windows? How do I do it?

Many thanks

Hello,

I would first try scanning to PC with Malwarebytes off and see if you can scan successfully.

You shouldn't need to open any ports on your firewall. All you should need to do is allow Brother through the firewall. Depending on your firewall you should be able to change the firewall type to "Interactive" mode. This should pop up a warning when you try to scan to PC which you can grant the access.

Hope this helps.

Thanks for your reply, I have resolved the problem by uninstalling the software for the printer/scanner and reinstalling it. It was the driver not recognising the replacement MFC and not a Malware or firewall issue as was first suggested by the  MFC manufacturers

Thanks again

Hey great news man. I have a Brother multi-function too and once I set it up I never had an issue with it.
