Chris_Q Posted October 26, 2021 ID:1485521 Share Posted October 26, 2021 I have a replacement Brother multifunction printer/copier/scanner and everything now works apart from sending scans to file on my PC. Brother have suggested that it is Malware that is blocking the file transfer and suggest that I configure my firewall to allow ports to be open. Is this Malware or something I need to do in Windows? How do I do it? Many thanks
jsinfate Posted October 26, 2021 ID:1485562 Share Posted October 26, 2021 Hello, I would first try scanning to PC with Malwarebytes off and see if you can scan successfully. You shouldn't need to open any ports on your firewall. All you should need to do is allow Brother through the firewall. Depending on your firewall you should be able to change the firewall type to "Interactive" mode. This should pop up a warning when you try to scan to PC which you can grant the access. Hope this helps.
Root Admin AdvancedSetup Posted October 26, 2021 Root Admin ID:1485581 Share Posted October 26, 2021 Hello @Chris_Q Please click on the tray icon for Malwarebytes and exit out of the program. Then wait a minute and see if you're able to scan a file to the PC or not and let us know. Thank you
Solution Chris_Q Posted October 27, 2021 Author Solution ID:1485661 Share Posted October 27, 2021 Thanks for your reply, I have resolved the problem by uninstalling the software for the printer/scanner and reinstalling it. It was the driver not recognising the replacement MFC and not a Malware or firewall issue as was first suggested by the MFC manufacturers Thanks again

I have a Brother multi-function too and once I set it up I never had an issue with it.
