Reinstalled Win10 PC got new name + adding new Win10 PC + Android?

Recommended Posts

(Just got a notice of pending renewal today.)  Around 1.5 years ago, a MS Feature update made my PC useless (update would always fail) and the problem couldn't be resolved. I delayed reinstalling windows until I could get most of my data of the machine. I finally just had to get a new pc. I didn't realize I could put the old Malwarebytes on the new pc - and anyway, wasn't sure how to get the license#, plus I had health probs, surgeries, etc.  Long story. But in the last 10 days, I finally got well enough to just give up and reinstalled Windows on the old pc, having to completely wipe all data on the new PC... and somehow it got a new name.  On my account data here I note that you are identifying "covered" pc by the old name. And referencing the renewal info, I see that I can cover 3 devices.  SO... I'd like to port my current (and soon to be renewed) license to the new laptop.  I'd also like to now add malwarebytes to the Old pc (which has a new name)  Sadly, also just disconnected it today... I'm moving...ugh - it won't get plugged back in for potentially weeks).  I look at the options.. should I select the remove malware from all devices?  Or 1st add to the new PC? And I've had the free version of malwarebytes on the new pc for a year, so i'm not in an "install."  Not sure how I should approach getting it on both PC's. Lastly, I bought an Android tablet last year; I've also got an expired version of Malwarebytes on it. Can I add it as my 3rd device, or does it require a 2nd, "Android" version to be purchased.  Sorry for the confusing mess of questions...it's just the way my life is right now.

This feature is designed for the following reasons:

  • For use when you are on the forums and need to provide logs for assistance

  • For use when you want to perform local troubleshooting on your own

How to use the Advanced Options:

Spoiler
  1. Download Malwarebytes Support Tool
  2. Double-click mb-support-X.X.X.XXXX.exe to run the program
    • You may be prompted by User Account Control (UAC) to allow changes to be made to your computer. Click Yes to consent.
  3. Place a checkmark next to Accept License Agreement and click Next
  4. Navigate to the Advanced tab
  5. The Advanced menu page contains four categories:
    • Gather Logs: Collects troubleshooting information from the computer. As part of this process, Farbar Recovery Scan Tool (FRST) is run to perform a complete diagnosis. The information is saved to a file on the Desktop named mbst-grab-results.zip and can be added as an email attachment or uploaded to a forum post to assist with troubleshooting the issue at hand.
    • Clean: Performs an automated uninstallation of all Malwarebytes products installed to the computer and prompts to install the latest version of Malwarebytes for Windows afterwards. The Premium license key is backed up and reinstated. All user configurations and other data are removed. This process requires a reboot.
    •  Repair System: Includes various system-related repairs in case a Windows service is not functioning correctly that Malwarebytes for Windows is dependent on. It is not recommended to use any Repair System options unless instructed by a Malwarebytes Support agent.
    • Anonymously help the community by providing usage and threat statistics: Unchecking this option will prevent Malwarebytes Support Tool from sending anonymous telemetry data on usage of the program.
  6. To provide logs for review click the Gather Logs button
  7. Upon completion, click OK
  8. A file named mbst-grab-results.zip will be saved to your Desktop
  9. Please attach the file in your next reply.
  10. To uninstall all Malwarebytes Products, click the Clean button.
  11. Click the Yes button to proceed.
  12. Save all your work and click OK when you are ready to reboot.
  13. After the reboot, you will have the option to re-install the latest version of Malwarebytes for Windows.
  14. Select Yes to install Malwarebytes.
  15. Malwarebytes for Windows will open once the installation completes successfully.

Hello @riverboatsam

Have you setup your My Account page? From there you should be able to manage the items you've spoken about.

Generally speaking new subscriptions support most devices except iOS which requires licensing from the App Store so as long as you have a 3 device license it should not be an issue.

Please let me know if you need additional assistance

For Windows simply download from the following and install it and then activate with your license

Thank you
