Susan Bradley of AskWoody points out the Web Browser vector of attack

Recommended Posts

Susan Bradly says "I often come across Windows computer systems that have been severely compromised, and more often than not the entry point for attack is through the Web browser.

Sometimes I visit Settings, Apps in Windows and find unexpected programs installed. Often, these programs are malicious at worst, annoying at best. But it’s always a matter of concern that these programs are installed in the first place."

Isn't this what MalwareBytes Anti-Exploit is intended to prevent the Web Browser from doing?

Who even look at the Settings > Applications to find programs that infected the peoples computers. I get a feeling that she don't know what she is talking about. Trying to make people scared and things. And it's a paid article too.

I have been learning from other and myself. As long you don't download something you don't know anything about, or visiting sites you have never been on before. And use MBG and MB. You are fully protected.

Sure legit sites could be hacked too. And spread malicious scripts or such. But MB is using so many nice patterns of security so MB will block these attacks.

I have never been infected through anything, and I have used MB since a long time ago. I fully support MB.

I am glad that you follow good practices and have kept your systems safe.  As to the remark about a "feeling" about Susan Bradley, I feel compelled to make some remarks. Susan Bradley is highly regarded in the Microsoft Windows community. Besides writing articles at Windows Secrets community, she has for many many years done a lot of volunteer contributions at Microsoft community venues and is highly regarded in the community. That is to say, in addition to her professional work.  I do know that she indeed knows stuff.  She also has direct experience.  You may view one of her profiles here.

Thanks for the information. I thought that she didn't have so much knowledge. But yeah. She have a lot of knowledge.

To add to the knowledgeable post by Maurice, Susan Bradley was recently passed the reins of Publisher for AskWoody, one of the authoritative newsletters for this industry.

Susan Bradley, Publisher

Windows Secrets’ and AskWoody’s first and only Patch Watch columnist, Susan — aka the Patch Lady, SBSDiva, Small Business Susan, and others — has made it her mission to help small businesses manage technology and digital security. She cut her teeth on Basic in high school and then progressed (or regressed) to COBOL in college. But then the PC revolution kicked in, and she’s been wrangling personal computers ever since. She remembers the infamous Code Red/Nimda days, and she recalls exactly where she was when SQL Slammer hit — while trying to buy something on eBay and wondering why the Internet was so slow. She is moderator at PatchManagement.org and in real life she manages a fleet of business systems (servers, workstations, several clouds and even iPhones) at a California accounting firm. Susan is a Microsoft Security MVP and regularly writes about security at CSOOnline.com and at Computerworld.
