We have not confirmed support of Windows 11 Beta yet.

Can you please collect and upload as an attachment the diagnostic data using our MBST?

  • Download and run the Malwarebytes Support Tool
  • Accept the EULA and click Advanced tab on the left (not Start Repair)
  • Click the Gather Logs button, and once it completes, attach the zip file it creates on your desktop to your next reply

Malwarebytes have responded to my ticket and the solution worked

here it is

1. Go to Control Panel - Uninstall Programs

2. Uninstall Malwarebytes Privacy

3. Uninstall Malwarebytes Privacy VPN Tunnel Driver

4. Reboot/Restart once

After the restart, open the downloads folder where the Privacy setup file is located and type cmd in the address bar then hit enter on your keyboard.

Privacy download link if needed:

https://downloads.malwarebytes.com/file/mbprivacy-online

In the command line utility, type in MBPrivacySetup.exe /usewintun then hit enter on your keyboard.

Complete the installation of Privacy when it launches.

This worked for me, with the following exceptions:

I did not find a Malwarebytes Privacy VPN Tunnel Driver, it may have been removed during step 2.

As with all other attempts, running the command line specified led to the normal install coming up.  Again I received notification that the install was incomplete, so I tried all the steps again and again received notification that the install was incomplete, please reboot and try again, etc.  This second time, I ignored the "incomplete" notification and clicked the desktop icon.  The program loaded and connected without issue.

Windows 11 is still in BETA and is not currently officially supported by either product.

If you wish to post the logs here, I'll take a look at them tomorrow and see what I can find and see if I can assist you

To begin, please do the following so that we may take a closer look at your installation for troubleshooting:

NOTE: The tools and the information obtained are safe and not harmful to your privacy or your computer, please allow the programs to run if blocked by your system.

  • Download the Malwarebytes Support Tool
  • In your Downloads folder, open the mb-support-x.x.x.xxx.exe file
  • In the User Account Control pop-up window, click Yes to continue the installation
  • Run the MBST Support Tool
  • In the left navigation pane of the Malwarebytes Support Tool, click Advanced
  • In the Advanced Options, click Gather Logs. A status diagram displays the tool is Getting logs from your machine
  • A zip file named mbst-grab-results.zip will be saved to your desktop, please upload that file on your next reply

Thank you

Please go into Control Panel, Programs, Programs and Features and uninstall the following and restart the computer.

After you have uninstalled the items above and have restarted the computer. Please run the following fix.

NOTE: After running the fix we're also going to temporarily uninstall all Malwarebytes programs temporarily, then check the system again, then reinstall Malwarebytes software.

Please download the attached fixlist.txt file and save it to the Desktop or location where you ran FRST from.
NOTE. It's important that both files, FRST or FRST64, and fixlist.txt are in the same location or the fix will not work.

Please make sure you disable any real-time antivirus or security software before running this script. Once completed, make sure you re-enable it.

NOTICE: This script was written specifically for this user, for use on this particular machine. Running this on another machine may cause damage to your operating system that cannot be undone.

Run FRST or FRST64 and press the Fix button just once and wait.
If the tool needs a restart please make sure you let the system restart normally and let the tool complete its run after restart.
The tool will make a log on the Desktop (Fixlog.txt) or wherever you ran FRST from. Please attach or post it to your next reply.

Note: If the tool warned you about an outdated version please download and run the updated version.

NOTE-1:  This fix will run a scan to check that all Microsoft operating system files are valid and not corrupt and attempt to correct any invalid files. It will also run a disk check on the restart to ensure disk integrity. Depending on the speed of your computer this fix may take 30 minutes or more.

NOTE-2: As part of this fix all temporary files will be removed. If you have any open web pages that have not been bookmarked please make sure you bookmark them now as all open applications will be automatically closed. Also, make sure you know the passwords for all websites as cookies will also be removed. The use of an external password manager is highly recommended instead of using your browser to store passwords.

NOTE-3: As part of this it will also reset the network to default settings including the firewall. If you have custom firewall rules you need to save please export or save them first before running this fix.

The following directories are emptied:

  • Windows Temp
  • Users Temp folders
  • Edge, IE, FF, Chrome, and Opera caches, HTML5 storages, Cookies and History
  • Recently opened files cache
  • Flash Player cache
  • Java cache
  • Steam HTML cache
  • Explorer thumbnail and icon cache
  • BITS transfer queue (qmgr*.dat files)
  • Recycle Bin

Important: items are permanently deleted. They are not moved to quarantine. If you have any questions or concerns please ask before running this fix.

The system will be rebooted after the fix has run.

You shouldn't be able to test Privacy VPN. We're trying to remove ALL Malwarebytes software and clean up the computer. The fact that you can even attempt to start the Privacy VPN shows it was not removed.

Please go into Control Panel, Programs, Programs and Features and uninstall all Malwarebytes software.

Then restart the computer. After the restart please download the attached file FIXLIST.TXT and save it to the same folder as the Farbar FRST program as you did before.

Then run FRST64 and click on the FIX button.

fixlist.txt

After it finishes and restarts please attach the FIXLOG.txt file.

Then run FRST again and click on Scan button and get new logs and attach both new logs please.

Please go into Control Panel, Programs, Programs and Features and uninstall the following

Wintun-Windows

Then restart the computer.

The logs indicate that the VSS (Volume Shadow Copy Service) is having issues. It may just have been a temporary issue but please run the following to make sure it's working well.

Please download and run the following  Volume Shadow Copy Service (VSS), Diagnostic Tool, from Acronis

Acronis VSS Doctor

Free tool for diagnosing and repairing Volume Shadow Copy Service issues. Download link on the bottom of the page.
Download - Acronis VSS Doctor

In many cases, it can correct the issues on its own. If not, then it will give details on what may be causing the issues. Please save the report in text format and post back that log on your next reply.

You can also try the tool from Macrium Reflect if the Acronis tool did not work.

Macrium Reflect Volume Shadow Copy Service (VSS) Repair Tool

Once you've run the repair tool you need to restart your computer.

Then, let's go ahead and run a Safety Scan from Microsoft, please.

The Microsoft Safety Scanner is a free Microsoft stand-alone virus scanner that can be used to scan for & remove malware or potentially unwanted software from a system.

The download links & the how-to-run-the tool are at this link at Microsoft

https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/security/threat-protection/intelligence/safety-scanner-download

Please let me know the results of this scan.

The log is named MSERT.log

the log will be at  %SYSTEMROOT%\debug\msert.log   which in most cases is

C:\Windows\debug\msert.log

Please attach that log with your next reply.

Thank you
