Wasit12348 Posted July 31, 2021 ID:1472083 Share Posted July 31, 2021 I've come from this post by IhsanRocks: My issue seems to be very similar to this. An unknown extension by the name of "XUpdateFlow" keeps installing itself in my browser. This has caused a lot of issues. My Google and Facebook accounts have been compromised and I had to reset the passwords. I fear someone might have remote access to my PC. I have a feeling this extension might be storing passwords from my browser. Recently, I've also seen weird windows pop open for a second or two. My CPU usage suddenly gets very high and doesn't come down until the restart my PC. From the extension manager I've been able to locate the directory from where the extension is installed. "C:\ProgramData\Verhj\Manb\3F0CCBAB" - This is the directory. There are four files in this directory. Below is a screenshot for reference: These are the contents of the files: Note - The Javascript file seems to have a lot of random characters and the Png file is a blank solid white image. This is what I've tried: My first instinct was to remove the extension from my browser but it just reinstalled itself after a few minutes. Then I tried to disable the extension but it just resets to enabled the next time I restart my pc. I Scanned with Malwarebytes multiple times but the issue still exists. (I will note though, my CPU usage issue got fixed with Malwarebytes scan) I have also tried to delete certain folders and files associated with the extension but they just reappear the next time I restart my pc After searching for a solution I found Ihsan's post. I already did the first part of the Solution but couldn't proceed further because of cautions. This is the first part of the solution posted by kevinf80: https://forums.malwarebytes.com/topic/276987-unknown-extension-keeps-redownloading-itself/?do=findComment&comment=1471378 I scanned with Malwarebytes, AdwCleaner and FRST. The log files are attached in the post. I hope someone can help me resolve this issue. // I am currently using Microsoft Edge - Version 91.0.864.70 and 64bit Windows MalwarebytesLog.txt AdwCleaner[C00].txt AdwCleaner[S00].txt Addition.txt FRST.txt
Wasit12348 Posted July 31, 2021 Author ID:1472085 Share Posted July 31, 2021 Update: Disabling this file from my Startup List seems to stop the extension from installing. But I don't think its still a solution as the malware is still in my PC. The "Open File Location" button is greyed out in this file so I don't know where this file is located. JSntgRvr Posted July 31, 2021 ID:1472087 Share Posted July 31, 2021 Hi Welcome I'll be helping you with your computer. Please read this post completely before beginning. If there's anything that you do not understand, please don't hesitate to ask before proceeding. Please take note of the guidelines for this fix: Please note that I am a volunteer. I do have a family, a career, and other endeavors that may prevent immediate responses that meet your schedule. Do note that the differences in time zones could present a problem as well. Your patience and understanding will be greatly appreciated. First of all, the procedures we are about to perform are specific to your problem and should only be used on this specific computer. Do not make any changes to your computer that include installing/uninstalling programs, deleting files, modifying the registry, nor running scanners or tools of any kind unless specifically requested by me. Please read ALL instructions carefully and perform the steps fully and in the order they are written. If things appear to be better, let me know. Just because the symptoms no longer exist as before, does not mean that you are clean. Continue to read and follow my instructions until I tell you that your machine is clean. If you have any questions at all, please do not hesitate to ask before performing the task that I ask of you, and please wait for my reply before you proceed. Scanning with programs and reading the logs do take a fair amount of time. Again, your patience will be necessary. Let's begin... Download the enclosed file and save it in the same location FRST64 is saved. Open FRST64 as an Administrator and click on the Fix button. When finished, a log file (Fixlog.txt) will pop up and saved in the same location the tool was ran from. Please attach the file in your next reply. Re-scan with FRST64 after a restart and post new logs. Fixlist.txt

So as per your instructions I ran the FRST fix and after restarting I re-scanned with FRST. The log files are attached to this post. Also, I know its very time consuming to read through the log files, so I really appreciate you volunteering to help others. Solution JSntgRvr Posted August 1, 2021 Solution ID:1472211 Share Posted August 1, 2021 Yes, the logs are now clear, except for a few orphan entries. Malwarebytes Antimalware has also been updated to include this browser hijacker. Download the enclosed file and save it in the same location FRST64 is saved. Open FRST64 as an Administrator and click on the Fix button. When finished, a log file (Fixlog.txt) will pop up and saved in the same location the tool was ran from. Please attach the file in your next reply. After restarting, browse to the C:\FRST folder. Right click on the Quarantine Folder and select Send to. Select Compressed (zip) folder. A zip folder will be created. Please have it uploaded to any of the following sites that may be available and post the link to it: Microsoft OneDriveGoogle DriveDropboxDataFileHostExpireBoxSendSpaceWeTransfer Fixlist.txt

JSntgRvr Posted August 2, 2021 ID:1472260 Share Posted August 2, 2021 Thank you and congratulations, your system is clean. Use the following tool to remove tools and quarantined items: Please download KpRm by Kernel-panik and save to your Desktop. Click on KpRm.exe to run the tool. Vista/Windows 7/8/10 users right-click and select Run As Administrator. Put a check mark next to these items: - Delete tools - Delete now Click the "Run" button. When the tool has finished, it will create and open a log report and delete itself. Best regards. :)
