How long does a scan take on newer Mac?

Recommended Posts

Hi, I have a newer MacBook Air (about 2 months old) and a scan lasted only 1 second; and report said it scanned 30,629 items.  Is it really that fast?  Or is something interfering with the scan? Yesterday, I accidentally clicked on a jobdragon.net link.  I closed the tab before the site populated, but am concerned.

Also, note that although it's entirely possible for a Mac to get infected just by visiting a website, it's quite rare for that to happen in practice. The last known time it happened, back in 2019, involved a Firefox vulnerability. The last before that was a series of events in 2011-2012 involving Java vulnerabilities. (Java is no longer part of macOS by default, for that reason.)

So, most likely, if you didn't actually download and open anything from that site, visiting it probably won't have resulted in an infection.
