Malware does not get deleted after going to quarantined

Recommended Posts

Hello LlanoLonghorn and welcome to Malwarebytes,

Found entries are moved to Quarantine folder, if any of the found entries were not actually malicious you could restore from Quarantine folder. From the log you posted it actually shows "no action by user" i assume you`ve removed to quarantine and not posted that log...

Open Malwarebytes, select "Detection History" in the new window select "Quarantined Items" you will now see all of the quarantined entries, select them all and then select "Delete" all entries will then be removed totally...

Do you have any remaining issues or concerns..?

Thank you,

Kevin.

I'm sure we have a misunderstanding. After the scan 11 items show up. next I delete them and they are shown as deleted. I then reboot the computer and rescan. Low and behold the same 11 items are detected again.

Sorry if I am not clear as to what is happening but it is clear to me.

Thanks anyway

Okay, please get @kevinf80 the following logs and he will follow up with you as soon as he can with new steps to assist in cleaning the computer.

Please download Farbar Recovery Scan Tool and save it to your desktop.

Note: You need to run the version compatible with your system.
You can check here if you're not sure if your computer is 32-bit or 64-bit

  • Double-click to run it. When the tool opens click Yes to disclaimer.
  • Press the Scan button.
  • It will make a log (FRST.txt) in the same directory the tool is run. Please attach it to your reply.
  • The first time the tool is run, it also makes another log (Addition.txt). Please attach it to your reply as well.

Thank you

I fixed it myself. Must have been a corrupt file in the Malwarebytes install. It has been on this system for along time. I uninstalled and reinstalled and now after the first scan and these same files are deleted they stay deleted after reboot.

Thanks for your help but I should have done this first.
