I also got the version 4.10.4. Searching for updates, it says this is the most recent one.

Hi M_S, thanks but that seems a long time ago judging by the high levels of threat activity at present. I normally see updates every few days or 10 at most

Last for me was May 27 version 4.0.547. At the time I was running Malwarebytes 4.9.7.

Hi Alvarnell, Mine was the same. I raised a ticket and got the reply that a new version was available but my turn in the rollout wasn't up yet. So I did a manual update and shortly after I got new signatures. I might raise another ticket just to check current last signature updates as it does seem a long time

@M_S What version of Protection update do you have (as can be seen in the Detection History under Reports)?

@MKS56 I tried "Update Protection" from the menubar icon and got nothing new.

I'm unaware of a high level of threat activity regarding macOS currently and I check numerous sites daily for such things. There have been a few new variants over the past few weeks, but many anti-malware scanners are able to detect such variants without the need for a new update.

That's the version number of Malwarebytes. I'm looking for the protection update version, which is in the Detection History under Reports. Also shows date of update. I filter this by "Updates".

Yes, that's the beta version that I am testing. Should not make any difference in terms of protection updates.

We are at the start of a long holiday weekend here in the US, so probably won't hear from the staff until Tuesday of next week.

@alvarnell in terms of high level activity I was referring to activity in general not specifically those aimed at mac os. Root kits, hijack exploits, ransomware attacks etc. A month still seems a long time between updates but lets see what we get back after the holiday

And I was just making a point of the fact that Malwarebytes for Mac only addresses threats to macOS, so threats to other platforms generally have no bearing on the need for additional updates.

macOS rootkits have been extremely rare in the past and with Apple's moves to isolate the OS with each new OS version, it will likely be impossible when Monterey is released.

Only three instances of macOS ransomware were ever  known to exist and all three were shut down in a matter of hours, before any anti-malware could even be updated.

I agree that over a month between updates is unusual here, it's not unprecedented.

As Al alluded to, the Mac threat landscape has been quiet lately... almost unnaturally quiet. We do see these kinds of lulls on the Mac side periodically. Summer seems to be a common time for it to happen, as the bad guys take summer vacations too. Invariably, the lull will be followed up by the adware folks, in particular, all releasing updates, almost as if they coordinated it.

Currently, we're not seeing any new threats to add detection for that we're not already detecting. That's not to say Macs aren't getting infected, but it's just not with anything new.

Thanks Thomas, understood and good to know

Have you noticed the update of your Mac's Malwarebytes for Mac app to 4.11.11?

...and the update of the protection database to 4.0.548?

Looks like the bad guys are back from vacation!
