Outlook locking up and not responding when replying to or sending Emails

For the last two months we have encountered Outlook (2016 & 2019) on Windows 10 Machines locking up when the user is hitting reply or sending Emails randomly no rime or reason. Outlook will end up in "Not Responding" state and the only way to get out of it is to restart the computer. End Task does not work which causes frustration on the users part because they have to save all their work and restart the computer. We initially thought it was an office issue but we have had multiple Office updates with no resolution. We have about 12 people that are experiencing this issue. Just wanted to see if this was something that others have seen and if it might be related to better security with Malwarebytes? We are using Bitdefender Endpoint Security tools for our Anti-Virus. For Malwarebytes we are using Nebula.

Thanks

Matt

Are these users using IMAP and have a lot of saved emails in synced folders.

I had to pull some of my synced folders out of Outlook that were just years of old rarely used mails.

If I need to reference them now I just go to webmail.

Porthos,

I would not say there is a lot of old Emails but I have trimmed down the amount of offline files we store in cached exchange mode. That did not seem to solve the problem.

I will look into that and see if there is something that jumps out at me.

It came on all at once and started affecting this hand full of users. I was thinking it was a Outlook issue initially but after multiple updates the problem has not gone away. This got me wondering if it was a protection issue that was too strong causing outlook to lockup  and crash.

I have run out of ideas.

In the consumer version, Bitdefender has issues with Malwarebytes.

Please  refer to this support article which lists several known applications which conflict with the Web Protection in Malwarebytes currently, which includes Bitdefender

Porthos,

After trying everything I could find on the internet to solve my problems with Outlook locking up I went ahead with the information you gave me and replaced Bitdefender with Norton on the computer that was giving me the most problems.

No problems now for about 3 weeks. So is it Bitdefender causing the problems or is Malwarebytes not playing nice with Bitdefender. It seemed to come on around March or April of this year. Prior to this we had no problems.

If there is an issue between Malwarebytes and Bitdefender are the two companies trying to resolve the issues to solve this problem?

I am not excited about turning off Malwarebytes protection and I also like Bitdefender.

Thanks for your help.

I personally only use and recommend to my clients Malwarebytes alongside Windows Defender.

3rd party AV programs do not always work well with Malwarebytes.

Could be a bit of both. Remember the link i provided with known programs that do not work with MB.
