Oy! Just as I was putting 4.9.6 Beta through long variants of low and high CPU settings it seems 4.9.7 Beta was pushed early yesterday which my MBP's settings allowed to install.

4.9.6 Beta would still aggravate my MBP11,3's CPU temperature during scans due to near saturated RTP Daemon task CPU%.  I tried the CPU High setting for a short period.  However, the elevated CPU temperature seemed dangerously high and returning the CPU setting to low seemed the best choice.

Even if the push of 4.9.7 Beta has more to do with M1 code, it seems best to run 4.9.7 Beta at the low CPU setting indefinitely.

Personally, on MacBook Air M1, during a scan, which in my case lasts, when really long, from 10 to 20 seconds, but normally only a couple of seconds RTProtectionDaemon reaches a maximum of 37.1% with HIGH setting

Yes, this 4.9 release is really only about the M1-native code. Scan caching, which will help with the CPU usage issues, will be coming in another release, hopefully in June.
