Rhon Posted May 17, 2021 ID:1457383 Share Posted May 17, 2021 I have one remaining license on my subscription and attempting to download this app to my wife's computer. She is running Windows 7 which as you know is no longer supported by Microsoft as far as updates are concerned. I am stopped each time because a certain Windows Security Update KB2286198 is not present. I can't find this update anywhere in order to install. How can I correct this? My knowledge of computers is somewhat limited, Thank you.

Rhon Posted May 17, 2021 Author ID:1457424 Share Posted May 17, 2021 Hi Maurice, Thanx for your suggestion concerning Windows 10, however my wife is very much a traditionalist and not for too much change unless really necessary. Back to my initial question do I download and install "Security Update for Windows 2003x64 Edition (KB2286198)" for Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit operating system? Thanx for your time. David H. Lipman Posted May 17, 2021 ID:1457431 Share Posted May 17, 2021 I am not seeing it available for Windows 7 any longer.
Maurice Naggar Posted May 17, 2021 ID:1457432 Share Posted May 17, 2021 When Microsoft lists "Windows Server" they mean the Editions of the Operating system editions marked as "Server". They do not mean Windows 7.
Maurice Naggar Posted May 17, 2021 ID:1457434 Share Posted May 17, 2021 PS. Wholly separate from the operating system being Windows 7. ( Which imho is very risky to use these days ), you can if you wish, install Malwarebytes for Windows on the pc. If so, do the Gather Logs procedure with the Advanced hidden section of the very first reply at the top of this Topic.
Rhon Posted May 17, 2021 Author ID:1457435 Share Posted May 17, 2021 Hi Dave & Maurice, Thanx for your help with this matter. Dave you have just confirmed what I was suspecting that this update was not available for Windows 7. Unfortunately my wife will have to do now without Malwarebytes, pity. All the best, Rhon. Staff Solution tetonbob Posted May 17, 2021 Staff Solution ID:1457449 Share Posted May 17, 2021 @Rhon - If you are having troubles installing Malwarebytes on your wife's machine due to a missing Security Update from Windows, the KB required for Malwarebytes to install on some older, not-fully-patched Windows 7 machines is KB4474419https://www.catalog.update.microsoft.com/Search.aspx?q=KB4474419
Root Admin AdvancedSetup Posted May 17, 2021 Root Admin ID:1457465 Share Posted May 17, 2021 Even without the MBST tool, you can also run the Farbar support tool to help us better understand what is running on the computer and I'm sure one or all of us can get the computer updated @Rhon Please download Farbar Recovery Scan Tool and save it to your desktop. Note: You need to run the version compatible with your system. You can check here if you're not sure if your computer is 32-bit or 64-bit Double-click to run it. When the tool opens click Yes to disclaimer. Press the Scan button. It will make a log (FRST.txt) in the same directory the tool is run. Please attach it to your reply. The first time the tool is run, it also makes another log (Addition.txt). Please attach it to your reply as well. Thank you
