Sorry for returning so early but I’ve tried turning on hardware accelerated GPU scheduling because my friend said it gives more FPS and I know if supports 5600 and 5700 series but I’m not seeing it in settings so does that mean it doesn’t support it?

My graphics card is rx 5700 xt

Hello @AllanR

It depends on what version of Windows 10 you're running as well as what Nvidia driver you're using

If you click on Start and type in WINVER and run that application it will show you what version of Windows you're using.

Example:

Please see if the following helps

How to enable Windows 10 hardware accelerated GPU scheduling
https://www.windowslatest.com/2020/07/07/enable-windows-10-hardware-accelerated-gpu-scheduling/

Why you may want to enable Hardware Accelerated GPU Scheduling in Windows 10
https://www.ghacks.net/2020/07/03/why-you-may-want-to-enable-hardware-accelerated-gpu-scheduling-in-windows-10/

You can also post logs if you like so that we're able to see what is running on your computer.

Please download Farbar Recovery Scan Tool and save it to your desktop.

Note: You need to run the version compatible with your system.
You can check here if you're not sure if your computer is 32-bit or 64-bit

  • Double-click to run it. When the tool opens click Yes to disclaimer.
  • Press the Scan button.
  • It will make a log (FRST.txt) in the same directory the tool is run. Please attach it to your reply.
  • The first time the tool is run, it also makes another log (Addition.txt). Please attach it to your reply as well.

Thank you

It looks like you have AMD hardware. I'm not certain but it looks like you may need specific beta drivers from AMD for this?

Quote

AMD has currently limited the availability of its new driver to beta testers.

Might also check on their forums to see what others have to say about this. I use NVIDIA myself and it's available on my system.

What AdvancedSetup says above does appear to be accurate based on all the info I could find.  The only mention I could find about the feature on AMD's site is the beta driver he referenced and users asking about it on their forums.  The following article indicates that their beta drivers do support it since last year:

https://www.techspot.com/news/85831-amd-adds-beta-support-hardware-accelerated-gpu-scheduling.html

I didn't find any more recent news on the subject.

That said, according to benchmarks with multiple NVIDIA GPUs in combination with both Intel and AMD high end CPUs, the results are a mixed bag, with some games gaining a bit of performance and others losing performance with the setting enabled compared to leaving the scheduler on the CPU (the default before this new feature was rolled out):

Ok actually everything did not go well I downloaded the new driver version and then I noticed it was pretty bad so I tried going back to the old one and it didn’t let me so I had to uninstall and that’s when everything went bad I don’t know what I did but my pc was slow so I went back to a restore point and when I loaded everything wasn’t installed it showed blank spots and it was a fresh restore point to so I’m currently doing a fresh install of windows that I installed on my laptop to put on my desktop and after can I return with some frst logs to check that everything is ok?

You might try disabling Controlled Folder Access or at least modifying it to prevent errors.

Windows Defender:
================
Date: 2021-05-11 23:37:48
Description:
Controlled Folder Access blocked C:\Program Files (x86)\LightingService\LightingService.exe from making changes to memory.
Detection time: 2021-05-12T06:37:48.942Z
Path: \Device\Harddisk0\DR0
Process Name: C:\Program Files (x86)\LightingService\LightingService.exe
Security intelligence Version: 1.339.486.0
Engine Version: 1.1.18100.6
Product Version: 4.18.2103.7

You continue to have multiple faulting application Events being logged.

Faulting application name: ArmourySocketServer.exe event id 1000

I'm not sure if this will help or not but there is an ongoing topic on the ROG site. You might want to work with them and see if you can get this Crate application working without faulting.

Having done a restore the meta-data for Malwarebytes will probably be out of sync. I would suggest doing a clean removal and reinstall of our application.

Can you please do the following?

  • Download the Malwarebytes Support Tool
  • In your Downloads folder, open the mb-support-x.x.x.xxx.exe file
  • In the User Account Control pop-up window, click Yes to continue the installation
  • Run the MBST Support Tool
  • In the left navigation pane of the Malwarebytes Support Tool, click Advanced
  • In the Advanced Options, click the CLEAN button and follow the onscreen instructions to reinstall Malwarebytes
  • NOTE: Please have patience as it can take a while to remove and reinstall. The computer will restart to complete

After the restart please do the following

Click on the Start menu and type in "Check for updates" and see if there are any Windows updates to be installed and let it update.
