Kramer1007 Posted April 25, 2021 ID:1453228 Share Posted April 25, 2021 Hi Malwarebytes discoved a "MachineLearning/Anomalous100%" during a scan on my Windows 10 laptop. The file is called "BIT66C0.TMP". I'm not sure if this is relevant but I was manually updating Firefox and Chrome during the scan. The Chrome update originally failed (I unfortunately didn't take note of the error message) but after restarting Chrome the update was completed without incident. The computer appears to be working fine and subsequent Malwarebytes scans haven't discovered anything. Perhaps Malwarebytes detected a temp file being created by Chrome during the update? The details of the relevant file are: "File: 1 MachineLearning/Anomalous.100%, C:\USERS\USER\APPDATA\LOCAL\TEMP\BIT66C0.TMP, Quarantined, 0, 392687, 1.0.39783, , shuriken, , 6CC12897B0400D6CD61C85C123CDCDC6, 1F046DC1E819733811502A66BFF802A6DA76B63B879BBFC4B921E8E46DEC0493 "

Please copy/paste the content of that log in your next reply Next, Download Farbar Recovery Scan Tool and save it to your desktop. Alternative download option: http://www.techspot.com/downloads/6731-farbar-recovery-scan-tool.htmlNote: You need to run the version compatible with your system (32 bit or 64 bit). If you are not sure which version applies to your system download both of them and try to run them. Only one of them will run on your system, that will be the right version. If your security alerts to FRST either, accept the alert or turn your security off to allow FRST to run. It is not malicious or infected in any way... Be aware FRST must be run from an account with Administrator status... If English is not your primary language Right click on FRST/FRST64 and rename FRSTEnglish/FRST64English Double-click to run it. Kramer1007 Posted April 25, 2021 Author ID:1453238 Share Posted April 25, 2021 HI Kevin thank you for your prompt reply. Some of the scans have details of some work software which I'm reticent to post on a public forum - is it possible to contact you directly? Note that the latest malwarebytes scan and the adw scan didn't detect any malicious items. Cheers
kevinf80 Posted April 25, 2021 ID:1453261 Share Posted April 25, 2021 Hello Kramer1007, I prefer that logs are attached to your replies in this thread if possible, also if this is a business system this forum is not really the place to seek help... This forum is here for personal systems.. If your PC is not a dedicated business system but used mainly for personal use you could zip up FRST logs and password protect them, PM me the password so only moderators and admin staff can see your logs... Thanks Kevin...
Kramer1007 Posted April 25, 2021 Author ID:1453357 Share Posted April 25, 2021 Hi Kevin Thank you for reply. The computer is a family laptop but I've needed to use it on occasion during COVID lockdown. Logs are attached, please note that out of ignorance I ran ccleaner after the .TMP was originally identified (before I had discovered this forum). Requested logs of Adw and malwarebytes are attached. I have included the malwarebytes log when the anomalous file was detected and a recent clear one. Thanks again. Solution kevinf80 Posted April 26, 2021 Solution ID:1453377 Share Posted April 26, 2021 Hiya Kramer1007, Thanks for those logs, as you thought your system is clean, no signs of Malware or Infection. The temp file flagged will more than likely have been a remnant from an update of your browsers... Right click on FRST here: C:\Users\USER\Downloads\FRST.exe and rename uninstall.exe when complete right click on uninstall.exe and select "Run as Administrator" If you do not see the .exe appended that is because file extensions are hidden, in that case just rename FRST to uninstall That action will remove FRST and all created files and folders... Next, Condsider the following: Malwarebytes Browser Guard (Free) for Firefox: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-GB/firefox/addon/malwarebytes/ Malwarebytes Browser Guard (Free) for Chrome: https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/malwarebytes-browser-guar/ihcjicgdanjaechkgeegckofjjedodee Link will also work for Opera and Edge..
