BostonBerry Posted April 24, 2021 ID:1453166 Share Posted April 24, 2021 Read with interest the privacy issues discussed in latest MB Newsletter regarding Google's FLoC initiative. Are those privacy issues and similar concerns related to "typical old school" cookies still a problem when using a VPN like MB Privacy? Thanks Link to post
brad03 Posted April 24, 2021 ID:1453192 Share Posted April 24, 2021 I believe they are going to release an update that combats this issue in the next version of browser guard that's going to be released soon. Link to post
BostonBerry Posted April 25, 2021 Author ID:1453202 Share Posted April 25, 2021 Thanks but my question is more basic (and perhaps illustrates my lack of tech knowledge), if I am on a VPN and my searches/web activity are coming from a random IP address not linked to me, am I not protected from these privacy concerns? It's not my IP address? It's not "me" - right? Link to post
brad03 Posted April 25, 2021 ID:1453276 Share Posted April 25, 2021 (edited) Essentially yes you will be protected with Malwarebytes privacy because the connection will be diverted to another server and is exactly how you described above. It also wouldn't hurt to clear cookies from your browser before disconnecting from the VPN (if you don't have kill switch enabled.) Keep your eyes on the release of the new browser guard as i believe they are working on implementing FLOC blocking. Edited April 25, 2021 by brad03 1 Link to post

Staff Solution gatortail Posted April 26, 2021 Staff Solution ID:1453398 Share Posted April 26, 2021 That is correct, we are actively working on BG v2.2.24 which will contain blocking for FLoC. 1 Link to post
