I think my pc has a virus. I had MalwareBytes free and now I cannot run any anti-virus pgms & other functions are not working properly (I have to use arrows to make selections as mouse clicks do not work properly now).  Please help me get rid of the virus and get MalwareBytes installed again. I cannot run or install MalwareBytes currently so just have the 2 logs attached.  I also now have no internet capabilities on the infected pc but luckily have another pc so I can submit this issue to you.

Hi,       :welcome:

My name is Maurice. I will be helping & guiding you.

Please know I help here as a volunteer.  and that I am not on 24 x 7.

Help on this forum is one to one.

This Dell pc shows there are 2 user-login-accounts/ user profiles active. Please see about using the Windows options menu to do a LOGOFF & then a RESTART.

McAfee antivirus is installed. Can you do a Scan with it?

And let me know, have you tried running Microsoft Defender Antivirus thru the Windows menu under Security ?

You can use the built-in Microsoft Antivirus which is Windows Defender to scan the system. A good way to do that is by using its Offline scan option.

Click the Windows Start menu button on the Taskbar, select Settings icon. Then choose Update and Security.

In Windows Settings >>> click on Windows Security from the left side list.

Next, In Windows Security section: Click on the grey button Open Windows Security

Now, click on the shield Virus and threat protection

next click on the line in blue Scan options

Look down the options list. Tick on Microsoft Defender Offline scan.

Then next, click the grey "Scan now" button.

and let it scan the system.

When it reboots the system, please just login with your regular login-account.

Have patience during the scan run.

Keep in mind that the design and what is scanned by Windows Defender is a whole different design from Malwarebytes. But do let me know how this scan goes and what the result is.

Hi Maurice,

The only option that I could get to work was Microsoft Defender Offline scan.  After it ran there was still some minutes where the mouse controls seemed to be reversed (rick-click working as left-click).  But then I was able to connect to the internet again & download MalwareBytes.  I now have it installed & a scan ran without any issues detected so it seems like the Microsoft Defender Offline scan did the trick for this case.  The pc seems to be running fine now.

Thanks you sooooo much for helping me with this!!!

That's good, indeed.

Before we proceed to closure, let's do some other scans.

Let me suggest you do one scan with Adwcleaner to check for adwares.

First download & save it

Then do a scan with Adwcleaner

Attach the clean log.

That is a nice cleanup of old history for the Microsoft Windows Edge browser.

Here are tips on keeping your web browsers safer.   Please make time  and read all of this.     apply the tips.

See this article on our Malwarebytes Blog

You want to disable the ability of each web browser on this machine from being able to allow "push ads". That means Chrome, Firefox, or Edge browser (on Windows 10), or on Opera.

Scroll down to the tips section "How do I disable them".

If this pc has the Google Chrome browser, or the Brave browser, I suggest you install the Malwarebytes Browser guard for Chrome.

To get & install the Malwarebytes Browser Guard extension for Chrome,

Open this link in your Chrome   browser:

Then proceed with the setup.

Run your Windows EDGE browser to the link above & also setup the Browser Guard !

For    Mozilla Firefox, to get & install the Malwarebytes Browser Guard  Firefox extension.

Open this link in your Firefox browser:

Then proceed with the setup.

That link is for English US.   There are other language version.  Just go to the very bottom right of the page and look at “Change language” list drop down.
