vfgrse.com virus

Recommended Posts

Hello -- I too am struggling with this popup.  I started with following the procedure listed in this article - forums.malwarebytes.com/topic/258886-chrome-secure-preferences-detection-always-returns/ .  Then when that didn't solve the problem I read the article - forums.malwarebytes.com/topic/271161-vfgrsecom-virus-risjware/ and followed the steps.  Thought I was cured but the popups came back.  The Malwarebytes scan, the Adwcleaner, and the farbar scan -- all failed to identify any problem.  I am in the trial phase of Malwarebytes premium which I hope to buy if it can fix this issue.  Please help me if you can.  Thanks.

Hi,       :welcome:

My name is Maurice. I will be helping and guiding you, going forward on this case.

Let me know what first name you prefer to go by.

Please follow my directions as we go along.  Please do not do any changes on your own without first checking with me.

Please only just attach   all report files, etc  that I ask for as we go along.

I would appreciate  getting some key initial information.

What program is showing a message ?

Is it Malwarebytes?

Is it a. BLOCK message ?

Does it involve Chrome ?

What does it say ?

Please know I help here as a volunteer.  and that I am not on 24 x 7.

Help on this forum is one to one.

Thank you,

Sincerely.

PS. NOTE.  There are 2 too-many installed antivirus programs, which can cause deadlocks at the worst time.

And be sure you are fully aware that Windows 10 comes pre-built with Microsoft Defender antivirus.

If neither of the following is paid for, then uninstall these

Security Suite by F-Secure

McAfee VirusScan

Your pc should only have 1 installed antivirus.

Thanks for your help Maurice

Cindy -- is just fine.  I have uninstalled McAfee now completely - I had disabled it as I had not purchased a license, so I don't know why it was running but it is gone now.

I see a popup while I am using chrome.  The notice is from malwarebytes and shows that somewhere on my c drive that a program is trying to use chrome to go to the vfgrse.com website.  I haven't got a screen capture of the actual popup, but the malwarebytes program show it as a block notification - I've attached a screen shot of that below.

Good morning, Cindy.

Know that the "block" notices mean that Malwarebytes is keeping your pc safe. For now, I would suggest that you do all 6 steps like on this one post of mine

https://forums.malwarebytes.com/topic/270892-when-searching-things-on-googlecom-i-get-trojan-alert-for-addedprintcom/?do=findComment&comment=1440523

Attach the report from Adwcleaner back here.  We will do more later.

Let me know if you use Chrome to read email. You may use EDGE browser for the time being.

  • 2 weeks later...

I am sorry -- my husband had a heart attack and I had to deal with that rather than fix my computer.  He is now back at home with a pacemaker and is finally able to drive.  Hopefully this next week I will be able to work on this ongoing issue.  In the meantime I have purchased the premium software for my computer and my husband's computer.  Thank you for your patience.
