Subscription not valid on 2nd Android 5.1.1 phone?

I have had a subscription to Malwarebytes for some time, but it I can not reinstall it on my backup phone running Android 5.1.1.

After a necessary reset, when I tried to install the Malwarebytes app, playstore says "Your device isn't compatible with this version"

Am I trying to install the wrong version? It worked before!

Unfortunately, the version available on Google PLAY requires Android OS 6.0 and up.

So my app which used to work doesn't any longer? 

My subscription for all devices under the same Gmail address/account doesn't actually cover my older device any more?

There's no legacy version that can use database updates to stay effective?

I'm disappointed! I guess I'll just have to find a new malware app for all my stuff. No point in using more than one vendor.
