AdwCleaner 8.1 flags Youtube PWA as PUP

Recommended Posts

At the end of January, Youtube was made available as a PWA, so I installed it using Google Chrome and pinned it to the taskbar.
However, AdwCleaner keeps flagging both links (desktop and taskbar) as PUP Optional Legacy, despite several FP reports.

It is worth noting that:
1- I have other PWAs installed and AdwCleaner only flags the Youtube app as PUP
2-AdwCleaner flags the Youtube app as PUP only if the PWA is installed using Google Chrome. No PUP detection if the Youtube PWA is installed using MS Edge.

Removing and reinstalling the app did not solve the problem.

Hello @Momax and :welcome:

Thank you kindly for the informative Malwarebytes AdwCleaner scan report file.

Before the Malwarebytes' developer/staffers commence a thorough analysis of that system's PUP issue, it is recommended you also attach a Malwarebytes Support Tool archive report file (mbst-grab-results.zip) in your next reply to this topic:

Please follow only steps 1 thru 8 of the Upload Malwarebytes Support Tool logs offline procedure and attach the resulting mbst-grab-results.zip archive file in your next reply to this topic for analysis.

In the meantime, you may wish to consider making a temporary Malwarebytes AdwCleaner Exclusions setting

Thank you.

this tool work also with AdwCleaner?

Yes.  The tool, (MBST) is purposely designed to capture relevant data on most installed Malwarebytes consumer products (Malwarebytes AdwCleaner included) as well as the Windows OS.

Thank you.
