I use Chrome exclusively. When I installed malwarebytes, other browsers started popping up and asking me to do things. Firefox for sure, maybe also Bing. There was also a message from Norton. I just closed all of these.

So how do I know that Malwarebytes has been correctly installed and "doing its thing" on CHROME???

Hello @Judy60

Does the program look very similar to the following when you open it?

image.png

If you click on the Scan button it should run and complete a scan and then show you the results. Copy those results and post them back here, please.

The following tool will scan your system and let us know what is running on it so that we can provide you further feedback.

It's quite late for me but I'll check back on you again sometime tomorrow morning

Please download Farbar Recovery Scan Tool and save it to your desktop.

Note: You need to run the version compatible with your system.
You can check here if you're not sure if your computer is 32-bit or 64-bit

  • Double-click to run it. When the tool opens click Yes to disclaimer.
  • Press the Scan button.
  • It will make a log (FRST.txt) in the same directory the tool is run. Please attach it to your reply.
  • The first time the tool is run, it also makes another log (Addition.txt). Please attach it to your reply as well.

Thank you

If you like chrome ..well first off why? Chromium browsers are great cause each tab is its own sandbox. There are others like Firefoxz or Edge(i think it uses webkit??) . I would say go with Vivaldi. Vivaldi is the best chromium by far.

https://vivaldi.com/features/

also get a script blocker.. ill send you a link for one as well. Scripts can load malware to your pc.

https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/no-script-suite-lite/ahnanjpbkghcdgmlchbcfoiefnifjeni                                  (yes you can use chrome extensions on Vivaldi)

only allow scripts on sites you trust.,

Thank you for your feedback @user-78453 but I think the user is looking for confirmation they have the right product installed and that it's working correctly.

NoScript is an excellent product but is also often too complex or difficult for many users and they often quickly uninstall it.

Let's get their main issues or concerns taken care of before we go down the road about browser suggestions, etc.

Thanks

First, thank you to the AdvancedSetup staff for responding so quickly to my post.

I suspect that all is well. First, the program looks like it should when I open it. Second, when I woke up this morning Malwarebytes had clearly run -- there was a report for me with 25 threats which I quarantined.

Just in case, I followed your instructions: I ran a new scan and have attached the results as well as the two other logs Malwarebytes scan report.docxyou requested.

Hoping to hear that all is well for sure!

- Judy
