Keep Getting Malware Results from Chrome User Data & Registry

Recommended Posts

Hello!

Before you tell me to go to this thread: https://forums.malwarebytes.com/topic/258886-chrome-secure-preferences-detection-always-returns/

I read it. My major problem is that I don't want to erase all of my history, saved passwords, bookmarks, themes, autofill, open tabs, extensions or ANYTHING like that. It seems to only have an option to clear all data from the google account, which from my understanding, means EVERYTHING and that is just not an option for me. There must be a way to remove this without losing all of my stuff. I have attached an image of the Adware.Hijacker results from Chrome.

Hello @AnakinSkywalker

If you don't want to clean Google Chrome then you'll probably have to live with it. We cannot clear many objects in Chrome because they prevent process injection to allow us to clean it up for you.

We can can attempt to look at some other logs, but ultimately it is Google Chrome that is messed up and needs cleaning.

I'm not so sure about that. I have resolved it with a system restore and some steps to backup and re upload my chrome data. I'm not even sure clearing and replacing the chrome data was even necessary, as it disappeared before that, but I did it as a precaution. What you do may work, but it's akin to chopping somebody's arm off to save them from a hangnail or blowing up a building full of innocent people to get one terrorist. It's just over the top and lacks any finesse.

Well that is an opinion which I don't share but it is your computer so you're welcome to do as you wish. I prefer security and safety with my own computer and having no infections now for 30 years proves my method works quite well.

Is there anything else I can assist you with then at this point or is your computer working well for you now?
