AdwCleaner saving program to another location for backup problem

Good afternoon

 

I just downloaded the new version of AdwCleaner 8.1 and when I went to backup the file to my USB external device, I got this message:

The "More details" is greyed out, so I have no idea what program properties can not be copied.

I had no issues with AdwCleaner 8.0.9  copying the program file to my USB external drive

Also, I have run AdwCleaner 8.1 from my internal (D:/ storage / download drive) and no issues

My D;/ drive is a Western Digital Blue 1 TB SATA and the external USB backup drive is Western Digital My Book 4 TB

Using Desktop PC Windows 10 Pro 20H2 19042.804 

Will it be safe to proceed with copying AdwCleaner 8.1 to the USB external drive without it's properties?

Yes, it should be fine.  It is most likely the ADS (Alternate Data Stream) which is appended to files downloaded from the web by MS Edge/Internet Explorer (and Windows also does this sometimes automatically for files from other sources as well).  The ADS is a security measure which informs the system that the file came from another computer or the internet.

I should have mentioned I was using the Chromium Edge browser

I completely forgot about that, Chrome has never done that, that I'm aware of

I haven't used IE 11 in a very long time and hadn't, until recently ever used Edge.

I generally use Chrome, but after the last update it had been acting squirrelly with slow page loading, freezing up and blank completely white pages.

So, I decided to give the new Edge a try, so far it's been great with no complaints.

I do have the Malwarebytes Browser Guard extension installed, it's was the first thing I did do it

OK, that makes sense then.  That ADS I referred to is what prompts you when you try to open a file from the web giving you a warning about the risk in running it (not the same as a User Account Control prompt, but similar in a way), and when you check the properties of a file where the warning is shown, it includes an option to unblock the file so that you aren't prompted any more, which removes the ADS from the file.
