Unable to Install MBAM

Having a little bit of computer knowledge is nice, but when your friends find out, it can be a nightmare. That just sounded like the Intro to a suspense novel. Anyway, I am having a hard time installing MBAM on my buddies machine that is infected with some pretty nasty stuff. When I boot windows normally it just freezes up, but I can boot to Safe Mode just fine. I am trying to install MBAM in safe mode and when I double click the setup nothing happens. I have changed the file name several times and the same thing happens. The select install language box opens and when I hit next nothing happens, the box just closes. System Restore will not work (will not allow me to hit the next button). I have ran 4 different boot disks:

Dr. Web- scans for about 30 seconds and finds nothing (i have enabled full system scan)

Avira - will not load virus scanner (This is a common problem for this software and dell laptops, I found)

F-Secure - Cannot Mount two partitions of the hard drive (which I believe is the Main partition and the backup partition)

Kav - Will not load.

I am guessing I will need to create a log using hijack but I am worried i will not get that installed on the laptop. Any other suggestions before I try and do that, (with regards to installing MBAM)?

You probably need to hit it with a bootable anti-virus CD before you will be able to install and run the scan. Try the Avira AntiVir Rescue System, and see if it will make the computer bootable again so that you can install our software normally.

I think he already has... F-Secure, Dr Web, Avira, and KAV

I have ran 4 different boot disks:

Looks like he may need to consult with an expert!

Please post a new post in the HJT forum and someone will assist you in attempting to restore the functionality of your computer if possible, which may require you to have access to the installation CD.

That's what I get for being in a hurry when reading it.

Anyway, sounds like he need to run a chkdsk, and then RunAlyzer from a BartPE disk.
