Hi,

Thanks for posting in the Malwarebytes for Windows Help forum.

If you are having technical issues with our Windows product, please do the following:

Malwarebytes Support Tool - Advanced Options

This feature is designed for the following reasons:

  • For use when you are on the forums and need to provide logs for assistance
  • For use when you don't need or want to create a ticket with Malwarebytes
  • For use when you want to perform local troubleshooting on your own

How to use the Advanced Options:

Spoiler
  1. Download Malwarebytes Support Tool
  2. Double-click mb-support-X.X.X.XXXX.exe to run the program
    • You may be prompted by User Account Control (UAC) to allow changes to be made to your computer. Click Yes to consent.
  3. Place a checkmark next to Accept License Agreement and click Next
  4. Navigate to the Advanced tab
  5. The Advanced menu page contains four categories:
    • Gather Logs: Collects troubleshooting information from the computer. As part of this process, Farbar Recovery Scan Tool (FRST) is run to perform a complete diagnosis. The information is saved to a file on the Desktop named mbst-grab-results.zip and can be added as an email attachment or uploaded to a forum post to assist with troubleshooting the issue at hand.
    • Clean: Performs an automated uninstallation of all Malwarebytes products installed to the computer and prompts to install the latest version of Malwarebytes for Windows afterwards. The Premium license key is backed up and reinstated. All user configurations and other data are removed. This process requires a reboot.
    •  Repair System: Includes various system-related repairs in case a Windows service is not functioning correctly that Malwarebytes for Windows is dependent on. It is not recommended to use any Repair System options unless instructed by a Malwarebytes Support agent.
    • Anonymously help the community by providing usage and threat statistics: Unchecking this option will prevent Malwarebytes Support Tool from sending anonymous telemetry data on usage of the program.
  6. To provide logs for review click the Gather Logs button
  7. Upon completion, click OK
  8. A file named mbst-grab-results.zip will be saved to your Desktop
  9. Please attach the file in your next reply.
  10. To uninstall all Malwarebytes Products, click the Clean button.
  11. Click the Yes button to proceed.
  12. Save all your work and click OK when you are ready to reboot.
  13. After the reboot, you will have the option to re-install the latest version of Malwarebytes for Windows.
  14. Select Yes to install Malwarebytes.
  15. Malwarebytes for Windows will open once the installation completes successfully.

Greetings,

Yes, you're fine.  The site was blocked by the Web Protection component.  It is possible that the block was a false positive and a member of the Malwarebytes Research team can check and unblock the site if it is if you refer to the information and instructions posted in this topic as well as this topic and then post the information in the Website Blocking FP area by clicking here.

Once that is done a member of the Research team will review the site and get it whitelisted if it turns out to be a false positive and will confirm that the block is not a false positive if they determine the site to contain malicious content.

I hope this helps and if there is anything else we might assist you with please let us know.

Thanks

Also: when I click RMB on Malwarebytes icon (windows bar) there are a few options I can click: check updates, protection status and below that there is "add exception for the site that was detected earlier". Is this option there because it was the last detection made by MB?

Open Malwarebytes and you will probably see a nag about the trial ending. be sure to answer the nag to remove the triangle.

Also, when I open MB by right clicking it in windows bar (after clicking Start) and opening as administrator the bar (the one that opens when You click Start) doesn't disappear. It seems to happen only with MB, when I open another program the bar hides. Is this a problem/error? It isn't anything serious, is it?

Hello @Manaphy0220   As I understand the current situation of Malwarebytes for Windows on your rig, the trial period is over and you just have it as a free-mode scanner.  What you should do is clear any other traces of the trial mode.  Just needs some re-checking.

Start Malwarebytes for Windows.

  1. Click the cog icon Cog_21x21__3_.png in the top-right corner.
  2. Click the Account tab.
  3. Under the License key field, click Deactivate.

Now, click the Security tab.   Scroll down & look at "Windows Startup".   Check to be sure that Launch Malwarebytes is OFF.    ( selection should be to the far left on that button).   Then exit from the program.  Do one Windows Restart.

You can still use the program to do manual scans, to do program updates, remove any detected malware ( if any).

By the way, added advice. If your pc has the Google Chrome browser or a Firefox browser or the latest Edge browser from Microsoft Windows build 20H2  ( fall 2020 ), then add a Malwarebytes Browser Guard onto each of them.

I suggest you install the Malwarebytes Browser guard for Chrome.

To get & install the Malwarebytes Browser Guard extension for Chrome,

Open this link in your Chrome   browser:

https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/malwarebytes/ihcjicgdanjaechkgeegckofjjedodee

Then proceed with the setup.

.

For Mozilla Firefox   ( if you have it )

Open this link in your Firefox browser:  https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/malwarebytes/?src=search

Then proceed with the setup.

Once installed, you will see the Malwarebytes logo appear to the right of your Firefox Browser address  bar ( top side, on the  right)  indicating it is installed.

User Guide for Malwarebytes Browser Guard can be found here: https://support.malwarebytes.com/docs/DOC-3446

The Malwarebytes Browser Guard will keep your browser away from dodgy sites.

Thank You, I will check this later. I use Mozilla so thanks for linking the instructions for it too.

Do You have any idea why is MB the only program that opening of which doesn't close that menu which appears after clicking Start on Windows bar (sorry, I don't know what is it's proper name)?
