KCarmody Posted December 15, 2020 ID:1427216 Share Posted December 15, 2020 Several visitors to my site, http://kevincarmody.com , have reported that Malwarebytes installed on their machines is warning that my website is blocked due to a Trojan, or that it may contain a Trojan. Your site says that this warning arises because the IP address or IP address range is known to be malicious. https://forums.malwarebytes.com/topic/21076-info-malicious-website-blocking/ According to VirusTotal, the IP address of my site is 173.248.191.184. I checked with several online IP checkers, and most of them say this IP is clean. But Symantec ( https://ipremoval.sms.symantec.com/ ) says the following: Quote The IP Address 173.248.191.184 was found to have a negative reputation. Reasons for this assessment include: The host has been observed sending spam in a format that is similar to snow shoe spamming techniques. The host is unauthorized to send email directly to email servers. When I asked my hosting company about this, they said: Quote That's interesting as there is no mail that has left that IP address in well over 5 years. All of our email leaves our outbound mail scanners. Would you please make sure that my website no longer raises this warning? Malwarebytes is the only security software for which I have received complaints of false positives for my site. It appears you might have a systemic problem with false positives of this sort. It might save you some time, if not legal headaches, if you investigated and fixed this issue.
