Matfra Posted November 24, 2020 ID:1423153 Share Posted November 24, 2020 Hello, as of title from about 3 hours ago I have this problem, the files show up every time my pc goes in standby and always in couple (a tmp and a tmp.exe). When I go on digital signature it's from sweetcandy and I checked for files from this company and found only rundll32.exe with the digital signature of Microsoft. I put here the scan from Malwarbytes (which returned negative results) and the FRST scans. Note that the last scans are, unfortunately, in Italian and I can't find a way to put it in English, I hope that no critical information is lost, if you need clarity on a term ask me and I'll translate it asap. Now, for where the virus comes from: i don't know. My best guess is the ads on ebay, seen as I only started using it from yesterday and never had this problem before. Thank you for any answer. Ps: I saw that other people had the same issue, trying to solve it myself I tried downloading adwcleaner but it didn't execute for some reason. kevinf80 Posted November 24, 2020 ID:1423174 Share Posted November 24, 2020 Hiya Matfra and welcome to Malwarebytes, Rename FRST.exe to FRSTEnglish.exe then run again, Ensure all boxes are checkmarked under "Whitelist" but only Addition.txt under "Optional scan" Select scan, when done post the new logs. "FRST.txt" and "Addition.txt" Thank you, Kevin....
Matfra Posted November 24, 2020 Author ID:1423185 Share Posted November 24, 2020 Hello Kevin, thank you, I did so and the issue was solved... kinda: there are some parts that translated correctly, but there are still part (especially in the addition txt) that weren't translated. Again, if you need help i'm here, but you should be able to translate it with google. Thank you again. Addition.txt FRST.txt
Matfra Posted November 24, 2020 Author ID:1423190 Share Posted November 24, 2020 Also, forgot to add: I also have the folder protection of windows defender, and that's how I noticed the problem, if it can help every time it tries to access the cache of windows, and it gets blocked so whatever this thing is it can't do harm as of now. The protection is active on every folder of the pc.
Solution kevinf80 Posted November 24, 2020 Solution ID:1423196 Share Posted November 24, 2020 Hiya Matfra, Thanks for those logs, continue: Please download the attached fixlist.txt file and save it to the Desktop or location where you ran FRST from.NOTE. It's important that both files, FRST or FRST64, and fixlist.txt are in the same location or the fix will not work.NOTICE: This script was written specifically for this user, for use on this particular machine. Running this on another machine may cause damage to your operating system that cannot be undone. Run FRST or FRST64 and press the Fix button just once and wait. If the tool needs a restart please make sure you let the system restart normally and let the tool complete its run after restart. The tool will make a log on the Desktop (Fixlog.txt) or wherever you ran FRST from. Please attach or post it to your next reply.Note: If the tool warned you about an outdated version please download and run the updated version.NOTE-1: This fix will run a scan to check that all Microsoft operating system files are valid and not corrupt and attempt to correct any invalid files. It will also run a disk check on the restart to ensure disk integrity. Depending on the speed of your computer this fix may take 30 minutes or more.NOTE-2: As part of this fix all temporary files will be removed. If you have any open web pages that have not been bookmarked please make sure you bookmark them now as all open applications will be automatically closed. Also, make sure you know the passwords for all websites as cookies will also be removed. The following directories are emptied: Windows Temp Users Temp folders Edge, IE, FF, Chrome and Opera caches, HTML5 storages, Cookies and History Recently opened files cache Flash Player cache Java cache Steam HTML cache Explorer thumbnail and icon cache BITS transfer queue (qmgr*.dat files) Recycle Bin Important: items are permanently deleted. They are not moved to quarantine. If you have any questions or concerns please ask before running this fix. The system will be rebooted after the fix has run. Next, Download "Microsoft's Safety Scanner" and save direct to the desktop Ensure to get the correct version for your system....https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/security/threat-protection/intelligence/safety-scanner-download Right click on the Tool, select Run as Administrator the tool will expand to the options Window In the "Scan Type" window, select Quick Scan Perform a scan and Click Finish when the scan is done. Retrieve the MSRT log as follows, and post it in your next reply: 1) Select the Windows key and R key together to open the "Run" function 2) Type or Copy/Paste the following command to the "Run Line" and Press Enter: notepad c:\windows\debug\msert.log The log will include log details for each time MSRT has run, we only need the most recent log by date and time.... Matfra Posted November 25, 2020 Author ID:1423254 Share Posted November 25, 2020 Thank you Kevin, I'll do this asap, now I have online school so it won't be before lunch. I don't have to worry about my downloads, right? Because if there is a chance they get deleted and you give me the ok that they aren't infected I'll copy them to an external hard drive before I do this operation to ensure their safety. Thank you again.

Matfra Posted November 25, 2020 Author ID:1423354 Share Posted November 25, 2020 Hello Kevin, thanks for the information, so the malicious part was the hostappserviceupdater. exe, I really don't know how I got it, can you give me some tips on how to avoid the issue in future? For now there are no signs of a new virus, I'll let you know tomorrow. Thank you.
kevinf80 Posted November 25, 2020 ID:1423362 Share Posted November 25, 2020 Hiya Matfra, Yes you are correct regarding adware, I doubt you will ever know where it came from, thats how they work... If no issues remain or return continue to clean up: Right click on FRST here: C:\Users\matti\Downloads\FRSTEnglish.exe and rename uninstall.exe when complete right click on uninstall.exe and select "Run as Administrator" If you do not see the .exe appended that is because file extensions are hidden, in that case just rename FRST64 to uninstall That action will remove FRST and all created files and folders... Next, Remove all System Restore Points: https://www.tenforums.com/tutorials/33593-delete-system-restore-points-windows-10-a.html#option2 Create clean fresh Restore Point: http://www.thewindowsclub.com/create-system-restore-point Run Windows Disk Clean Up Utility - https://neosmart.net/wiki/disk-cleanup/ Malwarebytes Browser Guard (Free) for Firefox: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-GB/firefox/addon/malwarebytes/ Malwarebytes Browser Guard (Free) for Chrome: https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/malwarebytes-browser-guar/ihcjicgdanjaechkgeegckofjjedodee From there you should be good to go... Matfra Posted November 26, 2020 Author ID:1423531 Share Posted November 26, 2020 Hello Kevin, so I have some questions and a bad news, first: today I went to check in the temp folders where the problem originated and found some xls files inside tmp folders (one each), is this normal? I also found 2 files, which are prep_foundation_win32_bundle_V8_perf.cache and Office_root_Office16_AugLoop_bundle_js_V8_perf.cache, are they simply something used to update the programs or a virus related to sweetlabs? Also, and this is the bad news, I went on the appdata folder of general and found that the service is still there, with the unistaller and everything, on the digital signature and also get the pokki signature. How do I remove it? Thank you for any additional replies.
