Random tabs opening up while using http site on safari and chrome on mac

Recommended Posts

Hi any actions taken on a http website(a click or trying to type anything in the form field) is opening a new tab with some random url. It happens both on safari and chrome. When i scan using malwarebytes, it doesn't detect anything. Please suggest further steps to resolve the issue.

Hello @Haritha

You probably need to look at clearing cache, cookies, and possibly settings on the browsers. We used to clear some of that up before but most browsers no longer allow security software to do that.

Please see if the following links help

How To Reset Your Safari Web Browser

Remove unwanted ads, pop-ups & malware

Then I'd look at using uBlock Origin (not uBlock itself as that is another product)

FYI, uBlock Origin no longer support current versions of Safari. The developer and a couple of others who have attempted updates say it's not possible any more.

For Chrome repairs, see the pinned article near the top of this forum and the section on Nuke Chrome:
