Finally able to capture the redirection albeit not at the start but while within the forum and on truing to navigate back. This happens in the original recording after 16:30 and have also clipped the original when this occurs and attaching both the original & clipped portion for study. Since the recording tool supports only mic sound in free mode, only mic sound recorded and no system sound, which incidentally not of concern here. 9with upload limitations, had to compress original size to fir in limit).

Hoping for views/feedback on the issue. tks.

Please download the attached fixlist.txt file and save it to the Desktop or location where you ran FRST from.
NOTE. It's important that both files, FRST or FRST64, and fixlist.txt are in the same location or the fix will not work.

Please make sure you disable any real time antivirus or security software before running this script. Once completed make sure you re-enable it.

NOTICE: This script was written specifically for this user, for use on this particular machine. Running this on another machine may cause damage to your operating system that cannot be undone.

Run FRST or FRST64 and press the Fix button just once and wait.
If the tool needs a restart please make sure you let the system restart normally and let the tool complete its run after restart.
The tool will make a log on the Desktop (Fixlog.txt) or wherever you ran FRST from. Please attach or post it to your next reply.

Note: If the tool warned you about an outdated version please download and run the updated version.

NOTE-1:  This fix will run a scan to check that all Microsoft operating system files are valid and not corrupt and attempt to correct any invalid files. It will also run a disk check on the restart to ensure disk integrity. Depending on the speed of your computer this fix may take 30 minutes or more.

NOTE-2: As part of this fix all temporary files will be removed. If you have any open web pages that have not been bookmarked please make sure you bookmark them now as all open applications will be automatically closed. Also, make sure you know the passwords for all websites as cookies will also be removed. The use of an external password manager is highly recommended instead of using your browser to store passwords.

The following directories are emptied:

  • Windows Temp
  • Users Temp folders
  • Edge, IE, FF, Chrome and Opera caches, HTML5 storages, Cookies and History
  • Recently opened files cache
  • Flash Player cache
  • Java cache
  • Steam HTML cache
  • Explorer thumbnail and icon cache
  • BITS transfer queue (qmgr*.dat files)
  • Recycle Bin

Important: items are permanently deleted. They are not moved to quarantine. If you have any questions or concerns please ask before running this fix.

The system will be rebooted after the fix has run.

fixlist.txt

Thanks

Please temporarily disable any antivirus or other security software. Exit out of Malwarebytes and run the following please.

Let me have you run a different scanner to double-check. I don't expect it to find anything, but no harm in checking.

I would suggest a free scan with the ESET Online Scanner

Go to https://download.eset.com/com/eset/tools/online_scanner/latest/esetonlinescanner.exe

  • It will start a download of "esetonlinescanner.exe"
  • Save the file to your system, such as the Downloads folder, or else to the Desktop.
  • Go to the saved file, and double click it to get it started.
  • When presented with the initial ESET options, click on "Computer Scan".
  • Next, when prompted by Windows, allow it to start by clicking Yes
  • When prompted for scan type, Click on Full scan
  • Look at & tick  ( select )   the radio selection "Enable ESET to detect and quarantine potentially unwanted applications"   and click on Start scan button.
  • Have patience.  The entire process may take an hour or more. There is an initial update download.
  • There is a progress window display.
  • You should ignore all prompts to get the ESET antivirus software program.   ( e.g.  their standard program).   You do not need to buy or get or install anything else.
  • When the scan is completed, if something was found, it will show a screen with the number of detected items.  If so, click the button marked “View detected results”.
  • Click The blue “Save scan log” to save the log.
  • If something was removed and you know it is a false finding, you may click on the blue ”Restore cleaned files”  ( in blue, at bottom).
  • Press Continue when all done.  You should click to off the offer for “periodic scanning”.

Was trialing eset only before Kaspersky so shd v fine (current scan has 1  detection so far  (orange) so must be some pup or so and may be may take 2 hrs to complete scan . Last time (2 days back) when I cleared browsing data in edge overlooked period and may be could be reason for any lingering history and having cleared all now, hope this is now clear & fine.

It was a unwanted app (URBrowser) in eset scan which was deleted (Ithought I had saved thelog but cab't find it now, there was a call inbetween and may be I exited thinking I had saved).

And the main thing, the issue is back again justnow when within the forum (redirecting to MBAM main site with Us$ pricing).

Don't know what to say.

Is there any fresh system corruption? can Edge extensions be the culprit?

Also did a GRCshields up porys analysis,  prior to last fix someports were reported as open and now all ports are said to be closed and whether this has any effect? tks.

I'm sorry but I have not been to the GRC site in a long time. Not sure what he's currently doing. Typically he write pretty good programs though. Your firewall should be protecting you for the most part and I'm guessing that is probably what was tested against your system to see if anything was open or not.

What is up with all this Test Framework stuff ?

Your current DNS servers are listed as:

DNS Servers: 202.88.152.8 - 202.88.152.10

Please temporarily change them to the Google Public DNS servers and see if this helps and let me know.

No idea about those framework stuff? haven't installed any apps too (as faras I remember).

Will reset DNS to google and check it out.(but if current DNS is issue, than all browsers incl. chrome shd be affected, though I have'nt seriously used Chrome what witherratic redirection issue. tks.

Whatabout VPN use? do they overrule/interfere with DNS resolution or only ip change, since traffic is routed thru' it?

Don't know the VPN used works in Tunnel mode, when all traffic is routed in asecure mode using VPN's DNS, so Google would be bypassed incidentally.

It depends on your VPN but most use their own non-logging DNS so what you have set doesn't typically matter. What your VPN uses is what matters.

Sorry but redirects or issues are caused by something on your end. It has nothing to do with the forums otherwise ALL users would be having the same issue and complaining.

A bad extension, a bad router config, or a bad DNS are typically the most common causes. There are other potential reasons but those are the most common.

The 202..DNS server was recommended by ISP after frequent net disruption, and if redirection is the issue, can it said thatthe system is clean, &safe?Or shd pne be concerned , after all DNS requests ought to be resolved correctly, for every  access.

On VPN redirect, it depends on VPN and the problem here happens with/w/o VPN. tks

Have removed all extensions from Edge except Kaspersky protection (even Adguard adblocker, VPN).

Alternatively if it's to do with DNS, can check with Linux to see if problem occurs there (though I'm into Windows nowadays for Trading app purpose, if necessary).

You're obviously getting to our site or you would not be able to reply. If you continue to get redirects or not able to access then there has to be some type of issue either on your computer, your router, or perhaps your ISP or general region as no one else is reporting an issue.

Try from Safe Mode or try temporarily uninstalling Kaspersky and see if that makes a difference
