Annoying promotional redirection every time the forum is accessed. And that too with every topic/thread access and forced to back page many a times to get proper access. Hope3 the forum looks into it and do away with such usage/hindrance.

If you're having browser issues please post to the appropriate forum for assistance. I've heard no other reports of an issue so unless other users report it then there is probably something going on with your browser. Please see the following

hmm. my default is Edge and eveytime or maybe the first time of the day, the page redirects to  MBAM peoduct promotion and than one has to again try reaccess the forum once again when it works. and also when accessing thread, ther is redirection to ads, wherein one has to again try reaccess or back page to get proper access.

Now, I checked with Chrome and find no issues, strange.

and trailing kasperskycloud av with dew vpn and adguard extension, and not sure what is causing this kind of redirection. and esp. MBAM product promotion?

will probably capture what happens and try post for any views on it.

It must be DNS redirection and happens at times. when I type ;forums.malwarebytes, org' I get redirected to MBAM products page asking for home, professional use etc. and have to again retype url request to be redirected to forum. And this type of dns redirection happens with any forum thread/topic access too. And no issues with any other site. and the crazy thing is it occurs most of the time and not always and puzzling and happens with Edge and may occur with chrome if tested out always (i checked only once, so maybe if I tried several times , maybe at times this may occur) and dns redirection can happen only if forum has set it;s access in such ,manner only. So, only forum can say why it happens (since it occurs attimes, unable to capture such redirection occurences for posting so.). As I said, i use kaspersky cloud av, dew vpn at times and adguard extension. so, would help to know the reason for such dns redirection? tks.

with other thread/topic access, it's about redirection to some ads etc.

Kaspersky does initiates protected browser when there is any banking access etc. But not here and may not be the culprit in this case.

It might be autocomplete causing it if it's pulling the site from your history (like if you type 'malwarebytes' into your browser), though that would show in the address bar I would think, assuming that's what's going on. Does it only happen when you type the address, or does it also happen if you click a link directly or click on a favorite/shortcut to the forums?  The forums aren't even hosted on the same servers as the main site, so a redirect seems pretty unlikely and would be a confusing thing to do to an unsuspecting user trying to access the support forums, so I'm sure it's not Malwarebytes doing it (otherwise it would happen with every browser, not just Edge).

Check the settings in Edge for things like autocomplete and suggested sites; maybe it's set up to automatically take you to the top result of their search (a setting I've seen in Chromium and Firefox based browsers, so it likely exists in Edge as well) for when you type into the address bar.

hmm. I just type 'f' and 'forums.malwarebytes.org' comes up and the request is processed mostly redirected and correctly only few times (or on second attempt). Strange processing with different results, which is what is puzzling..

Pretty annoying. yes there's an Edge setting (Suggest similar sites when a site can't be found - which is on) (screenshot attached) and whether this could be the culprit??

Yes, it could be, though why it would fail to load the forums and fall back to the main Malwarebytes site I don't know.  Maybe it's just timing out connecting to the forums occasionally, resulting in it instead falling back to the main site as an alternative?  Try disabling that setting and see if that fixes it.  If so, that could be the culprit.  You should also check to see what options are available under Address bar and search at the bottom of the image you posted to see if there's anything in there that could account for it just in case it's an option in there causing it.

Scary. It's back do whatever and with more vigor and will now try capture every forum access to post it's creepy actions. Crazy behaviors and absolutely clueless.

Trying Turbo VPN now but sure that VPN may not be the issue.

Nothing in MBAM scan (had to pause kaspersky protection for MBAM scan) and no VPN in place now and problem cropped up again after MBAM scan when I tried to access forum currently (unfortunately I didn't go for screen capture, so unable to post it's occurence). Attaching MBAM scan report.

So, what to make of now?

I would still suggest posting in the malware removal area so that they can dig deeper into the issue to discover the root cause.  There are any number of things that can cause a redirect, and since no other users have reported this so far, on top of the fact that you only experience it with a specific browser, that would indicate that it is something specific to your system and the Edge browser.

To seek assistance, please follow the instructions in this topic, skipping any steps you are unable to complete, then create a new topic in our malware removal area by clicking here and a malware removal specialist will guide you in checking and cleaning your system of any threats and hopefully discovering whatever it is that is causing the redirect to occur.

As I mentioned in the instructions; skip any steps you are unable to complete, though you shouldn't need to visit BleepingComputer's forums to download FRST; you download it from this page: https://www.bleepingcomputer.com/download/farbar-recovery-scan-tool/dl/82/

Perhaps the redirect is occurring on BleepingComputer as well?  I'd recommend trying a different browser to do this stuff just to ensure you don't get redirected while seeking help.

i already got the tool but the problem is smartscreen block of the download and ignoring and keeping it and trying to run again blocked by windows smartscreen which aagain had to overrule to get it running finally (and on bleeping computer block it happens in chrome too) and no redirect withbleeping computer 9as i said it occurs only with MBAM forum access and no other site and erractic redirection as not always.

Now, the question is it necessary to go for 'fix; option with farbar tool before closing it?
