15495 host services stopped

Recommended Posts

My computer is running extremely slow and I get frequent messages from Malwarebytes the it has blocked svchost.exe.  I have searched for instructions on how to stop this and have downloaded AdwCleaner and Farbar Recovery Scan Tool and followed the process of running AdwCleaner, running a Malwarebytes threat scan, then running Farbar Recovery.  The Malwarebytes scan says no threats were detected or quarantined.  Since Malwarebytes scan show no problems, I downloaded Rkill and ran that.  The instructions said to follow with a Malwarebytes scan which was supposed to remove the processes identified by Rkill.  Again the Malwarebytes scan showed no threats.  What am I missing?  Logs of the scan run are attached.

Hello @LoriIKC

The logs don't really show any obvious signs of an infection. Perhaps a few minor issues that could use cleaning but nothing bad showing in the logs.

I would recommend that you ensure you have your license information for Norton from the Control Panel. Then temporarily uninstall it and reboot. Windows Defender should take over for antivirus if you're not using the paid version of Malwarebytes.

Then run FRST again and make sure you place a check mark in the Additions.txt check box and attach back both new logs and then I'll write up a generic clean up script and we can go from there.

Thanks
