Thanks for the detailed information @Dave77. The remaining issue aligns with what we have uncovered as well. We are working on getting this fixed asap and apologize for the issues this has caused.

As I mention above, we are working on a fix for this. For the meantime, you can disable the Web Protection module temporarily.

Keep in mind that in many cases, shutting off Web Protection does not help. The program has to be completely stopped.

Did that, same result. I still have to turn off Web Protection to see the Network.

Ok, Then we need a new set of logs.

Can you please collect and upload as an attachment the diagnostic data using our MBST?

  • Download and run the Malwarebytes Support Tool
  • Accept the EULA and click Advanced tab on the left (not Start Repair)
  • Click the Gather Logs button, and once it completes, attach the zip file it creates on your desktop to your next reply

Okay, here's the zip file as requested.

Other points to note, which may or may not be anything to do with Malwarebytes, is when I open "Network" in File Explorer I no longer see my router or this computer, both of which I used to see. Even with "Web Protection" turned off, enabling me to see my other computer (laptop), I do not see this computer (desktop) or my router. This computer recently updated to 20H1 from 2004, and that may be the cause.

Thanks, That log is correct. Staff will look into it.

And please take at look in these also. It's driving me crazy 😉. After (again) a clean install, I can access my network harddrive. But one minute later same problem. I can see other laptops, network drive, but no acces. Windows tells me that there is no such drive. A few seconds after disabling Web protection, problems solved.

Same thing happens to me as well. It is maddening. Why not just go back to an older version of the Web Protection in the program? That would solve everything. Why not just go to an older version of Web Protection and plug it into the program. Problem solved.

Thanks for sharing the logs!! I know this issue is frustrating and we are working on solving this asap. The time delay before the issue occurs makes it harder to catch and recreate the problem as well as verify its solved as we develop a full fix.

With that said, we are close to a solution. Would you be open to trying a potential fix for us? If so, I can send you a DM with details.

Totally hear you on this being maddening. It's not as easy as going back to an older version due to the complexity of general changes and how all the protection modules work together.

To be honest, it takes a little bit of time to verify the issue, identify the root cause, develop a solution, code it, and test it.

But the good news is we feel we have this one figured out. Would you also be open to trying a potential fix for us? If so, I can send you a DM with details.

  • Root Admin

Beta version 4.2.3.96 component package 1.0.1112 released today

This includes the fix for the remaining users that were still having Printer and Network discovery issues. Please enable Beta and check for program updates.

After the update, I would recommend restarting the computer even if not asked.
