Opening Libreoffice prompts an "Exploit Blocked" message

Hi everyone, for the past couple of weeks I have been unable to open any LibreOffice apps, every time I do Malwarebytes blocks it with a message that reads "Exploit ROP gadget attach blocked" which of course closes the program.

I have tried uninstalling Libreoffice, running the antivirus and reinstalling again but the issue will not go away. Any recommendations of what more I could try? I haven't found any information on this online

Can you please collect and upload as an attachment the diagnostic data using our MBST?

  • Download and run the Malwarebytes Support Tool
  • Accept the EULA and click Advanced tab on the left (not Start Repair)
  • Click the Gather Logs button, and once it completes, attach the zip file it creates on your desktop to your next reply

You can also click on "Restore Defaults" on the "Advanced Exploit Protection settings" dialog box.

  • Click on the small gear icon on the top right of the main program
  • Under Settings click on  the Security tab
  • Scroll to the bottom and click on the Advanced settings button
  • Click on Advanced Memory protection
  • Click on the Restore Defaults button

Sure thing! I had to upload it to Drive as the upload system here took 10 minutes to upload 5mb and then failed :')

Hey Porthos! I haven't tried that yet. I haven't touched the protection settings in many months and this error started appearing all of the sudden, so wouldn't this expose me to a threat if there is something trying to exploit Libreoffice to gain system access?

Hopefully I'm wrong, but I don't want to expose the computer as it has valuable data in it
