Tuscan Driver Posted September 28, 2020 ID:1410323 Share Posted September 28, 2020 I have the same issue too. It can't be removed from the File Explorer or the Network Connections, even after I disabled it there. Link to post
Hardhead Posted September 28, 2020 ID:1410372 Share Posted September 28, 2020 @Tuscan Driver Have you tried reinstalling MB Privacy and then go to the control panel and uninstall Wintun-Windows first and then uninstall MB Privacy.. Link to post
Root Admin AdvancedSetup Posted September 28, 2020 Root Admin ID:1410414 Share Posted September 28, 2020 Hello @Tuscan Driver Almost all software on Windows needs to be uninstalled from the Control Panel, Programs, Programs and Features applet. One should rarely if ever attempt to uninstall by simply deleting files from a folder or disabling a service. Please undo any service changes such as a Disable. Then reinstall the program. Then restart the computer. Then go back into Control Panel, Programs, Programs and Features applet and uninstall Malwarebytes Privacy from there and let us know if you continue to have an issue with the removal. Thank you Link to post
Tuscan Driver Posted September 29, 2020 Author ID:1410687 Share Posted September 29, 2020 Yeah I done the uninstall from add remove from control panel and and what was left was three files in the file explorer. They are unmovable and not deletable. Link to post
exile360 Posted September 29, 2020 ID:1410696 Share Posted September 29, 2020 Do you have Malwarebytes Premium installed? If so, it could be its self-protection mechanism preventing the files from being deleted. Either quitting Malwarebytes via the option in the tray/notification area's context menu, or disabling self-protection using the option under Advanced settings under the Windows startup section of the Security tab in settings (accessible by clicking the small gear icon in the upper right of the Malwarebytes UI) should allow you to delete them if this is the case. Please let us know if the issue persists or not. Thanks 1 Link to post
Root Admin AdvancedSetup Posted September 29, 2020 Root Admin ID:1410700 Share Posted September 29, 2020 Thanks @Tuscan Driver Let me have you run the following please and I will assist you with further removals as needed. Please download Farbar Recovery Scan Tool and save it to your desktop. Note: You need to run the version compatible with your system. You can check here if you're not sure if your computer is 32-bit or 64-bit Double-click to run it. When the tool opens click Yes to disclaimer. Press the Scan button. It will make a log (FRST.txt) in the same directory the tool is run. Please attach it to your reply. The first time the tool is run, it also makes another log (Addition.txt). Please attach it to your reply as well. Thank you Link to post

Root Admin AdvancedSetup Posted September 29, 2020 Root Admin ID:1410732 Share Posted September 29, 2020 I'm still reviewing, back with you soon Link to post
Root Admin AdvancedSetup Posted September 29, 2020 Root Admin ID:1410733 Share Posted September 29, 2020 Under Settings, Security inside Malwarebytes Premium please disable "self-protection" then run the fix below. The following fix will attempt to forcefully remove the folder. Please download the attached fixlist.txt file and save it to the Desktop or location where you ran FRST from.NOTE. It's important that both files, FRST or FRST64, and fixlist.txt are in the same location or the fix will not work. Please make sure you disable any real time antivirus or security software before running this script. Once completed make sure you re-enable it. NOTICE: This script was written specifically for this user, for use on this particular machine. Running this on another machine may cause damage to your operating system that cannot be undone. Run FRST or FRST64 and press the Fix button just once and wait. If the tool needs a restart please make sure you let the system restart normally and let the tool complete its run after restart. The tool will make a log on the Desktop (Fixlog.txt) or wherever you ran FRST from. Please attach or post it to your next reply. Note: If the tool warned you about an outdated version please download and run the updated version. NOTE-1: This fix will run a scan to check that all Microsoft operating system files are valid and not corrupt and attempt to correct any invalid files. It will also run a disk check on the restart to ensure disk integrity. Depending on the speed of your computer this fix may take 30 minutes or more. The system will be rebooted after the fix has run. fixlist.txt Thanks 1 Link to post
Solution Tuscan Driver Posted September 30, 2020 Author Solution ID:1410866 Share Posted September 30, 2020 I didn't need to run the FRST process. Eventually, success! I deleted the 3 stray Malwarebytes Privacy files after I turned off what you suggested, the 'Enable self-protection module' in my Malwarebytes Premium. Link to post
