Can Malwarebytes get infected itself?

I did a normal scan and detected nothing. I was doing a full system scan and I've waited about 3 hours for the scan to end and even then it was still going. It detected normal PUPs but also found a python trojan. I was wondering if Malwarebytes itself could get infected and maybe could have been instead manipulated and changed to leak all scanned files to a remote hacker? The extremely long 3 hour scan that was stuck on "scanning system files" is what worries me.

Hello @Treeplant     :welcome:

Full scans can & often do take a very long time to run & finish.   Seemingly stalling is not uncommon.   But that is no reason to jump to paranoia.

You describe the finding of P U P  's   & a "python trojan".    It woud be good to have detail on that.

I have moved your topic over to the Windows-malware removal help sub-forum for 1 to 1 help.

I noticed that you have 1 Topic-thread in the MAC sub-forum.

For this machine   ----   on your current post above ----  IS THIS a Windows machine  or the same or different MAC system ???     Please be very clear.

Thank you.
